Title: Khorne Army
Description: My first Chaos Army

Funky the Elf - August 27, 2005 04:17 PM (GMT)
This is my first Chaos Army. I have quite a few Chaos Warriors, a Blood Demon, a Demon Prince and a few other models - for the rest im using proxies. Im centering the army around the stuff I have, and due to my lack of models, I dont have many options.
Still it would be cool if you could give some comments and advice on the list.

I dont know the names of all magic items in English because I only have the German army book; Ill give a short description where Im not sure.

3.500 points - Khorne Army

Chaos General
Mark of Khorne, Berserker Sword, Ench. S., Crown of Battle (regeneration), Barded Warhorse
(rides on his own)

Blood Demon of Khorne

Exalted Demon
Mark of Khorne, Spellbreaker (like dispel scroll), Soulhunger (like hatred)

Exalted Champion
Mark of Khorne, Helm of Many Eyes, Dargans Armour (LD-test to hit), GW
(leads normal Chaos Warrior unit)

18 Chosen Chaos Warriors, Mark of Khorne, comm, Halberds, S., Banner of Anger (reroll break test, keep frenzy)

14 Chaos Warriors, Mark of Khorne, comm, Halberds, S.

25 Marauders, comm, L.A., S., GW

7 Chosen Chaos Knights, Mark of Khorne, War Banner

12 Chaos Hounds

----

12 of those Khorne Demonic infantry with WS5 and S5 (dunno their name in English...), comm

5 Blood Hounds of Khorne

5 Chaos Gargoyles

Total: 3.500
DD: 8 (+1x dispel)

The Large Demons, the Knights and the General should march/fly forward quickly and keep my opponent busy and get rid of a few of his units. In the meantime the infantry units have time to advance and when they reach the enemy should finish off his remains.

Blood letters?

Anyway the list looks way too small to be considered really effective in a 3.5k army.
Maybe only making one unit chosen should allow you to have points spent elsewhere... Anyway I will leave it to a chaos player to really give you advice about this army

In 3500 points, you can afford to give your general whatever is the ultimate mount for Chaos. And you should have at least one or two sorcerers.

But it is a khorne army... it isnt meant to have sorceress as they are all about dispelling, and thier main focus is with combat ^_^

I disagree... If you would see it fluff-wise, almost evry army of horde would have to have a sorcerer of some kind, (i even think there is a sorcerer in a khorne army in one of the story's in the boo) They are the ones who 'talk' to the gods.
In a game it would be seen as cheesy to take undivided sorcerers in a anti-magic army, but Hey! why the hell not.
think about this: The first spell of the lore of shadow (the shadow steed or whatever it is called). makes a model on food go 20" that meens you can let you greater daemon of khorne fly 20" in movement phase and 20" in the magic phase. And that's all the way towards the other site, you could kill almost all of his artillary in round 2... . hehe ^_^

no, I truly disagree to that. it´s not fluffy at all, I belive the word you are looking for here is "cheesy" ;) sure, one can take an undivided sorcerer but I would not play against a player who does this types of thing.

that would mean that the artillery maschines would be destroyed in turn one since you´d be charging in the magic phase. I belive a bloodthirster is very VERY good even without any support from magic.

this is my 2 cents at least, everybody do as they please but some things are just a big "no no".

Yeah, though this is my first army, I also think that sorcerers in a Khorne army would be bad style. All their anti-magic stuff and the fact that demons with the Mark of Khorne may not be magic-users implies that they despise the art of magic and they would hardly let a sorcerer into their army.
Besides, they dont need magic anyway, as they are strong enough with their sheer combat power. And even if there was a sorcerer in the army, with 4PD he wouldnt get a single spell off. One would have to take more spell-users, which would be even more unfluffy.

On a side-note,

with "model on foot" Im sure that a man-sized model is meant, like a character. Otherwise basically every non-cav model would be on foot, in some way (even a dragon  ). And then this would hardly be the first spell in the lore, cast at 4+...

About the size of the army, yes, I guess its very small. The problem is that I have nothing appropriate to proxy marauder horsemen (reavers, pistoliers, silverhelms or boar boyz would look really strange) and for the marauder infantry Im using free company, but I dont have many more than the ones Im already using :(

Do you have any suggestions on how to enlargen the size of the army, or which proxies could be used without making the army look like a mixed salad?

The wording of the Steed of Shadows spell was changed shortly after the release of 6th edition. It is now US1 models only.
