Hi

I was wondering if much people have fought the new wood elf's..?

What works what doesn't ...?

Obviously magic heavy armies are quiet good but what about other..?

I there, i've played against the new woodies and they seem like a tough army to deal with... I haven't played against them before the new rules but now they are quite good. Their shooting still rocks, 30 for range and if within half range they get +1 strenght bonus so strenght 4 wich is quite good. Also no penalties for moving and shooting gives them the advantage to walk and get within half range without much problems. Luckily i haven't played against a heavy magic army so that was in my favour, and as i was playing with ogres that lack of shooting really turns back on me!!! I faced two units of archers, one unit of waywatchers, one unit of wardancers, one unit of dryads, one unit of treekin, 2 treeman, one tough hero, one sorceress, five kurnous riders and 3 flyers with shooting (don't remember their names).I guess i'm not forgeting nothing. The general was one of the treeman.

Well it turned out as a tie in my favour but was a tough one... that shooting really gives it a go! and all units complement themselves. honestly the dryads seems one of the best units in the army... all in them is good and now being core and only 12 points is really awesome. My numbers turned really down and i was just lucky to kill is general treeman, the riders, the treekin and a unit of archers. is general really gave me the points and even more i like giants ;) if it wasn't for them i would be really in trouble, but they haven't dissapointed me B)

Honestly i don't know what advices can i give... just be really carefull and think your strategy right cause they are tough! all that amasing shooting really turns your numbers down and then it will be dificult!!! my luck is that ogres are tough cause if not i would be in trouble. shooting against them doesn't seemed to me the answer cause they are pratically all skirmishers and small units (so if you kill one the points that are gained aren't that much) and those that are worth it are really tough (so unless your playing with cannons or volley guns i guess that isn't worth it)...

well try it and then say something to so we can have more opinions.... :thumb:

My regards to all Generals!!!

My adivce would be to pick units that generally perform well against small ,light unarmoured units; I.E take a few units of 7 Cold one knights, maybe with a noble, witch elves to get rid of those pesky dryads, maybe hire a few ogres to smash their lines up, and of course make sure you cast dominion on their small fast units to prevent them moving and chill wind to deal with their glade guard.Being unexperienced in both armies, my advice comes from army list evaluating and functioning units with similar armies. So you shoudnt trust it too much, but its the best i can give.

Chillwind messes them up, dominion can be a pain too, but it's harder to cast.

Lifetaker works wonders against dryads and wardancers.

Glade riders can be taken care of by crossbowmen with shields.

Corsairs are fairly resistant to shooting and can mow lightly armored low T units down.

Chariots and knights are also resiliant to shooting, although knights are vulnerable to waywatcher shots.

Witches chew through wood elf units, if they can get there. Use corsairs to screen them until combat.

The wand can take out a character easy, so can the web.

Dark riders can take care of light units and combat their speed.

Hope this helps.

I would suspect Cold One Riders wouldn't be very effective against an army like mine, as we have a new bow/arrow combo that gives us 4 Strength 3 shots that ignore armor a turn. That's about 2 Knights dead a turn, on average.
