In the armybook it says that when an engineer accompanies a bolt thrower, failed to-hit rolls can be rerolled.

Does the bolt thrower get to use the engineers BS in addition? It doesnt say so, but as he is a part of the crew it would seem logical.

Yes you use his BS, but you don't get the re-roll any more. We lost that ability for an extra point of BS... :huh:

That sucks hard. Ive never been tempted to use an engineer. Deployed with a cannon or stone thrower he is close to useless, as guessing isnt a problem with a bit of experience. And the ability to reroll the bolt thrower's to-hit roll isnt (wasnt) worth his point cost and the hero slot.

I was hoping that if the bolt thrower could use his BS in addition to the reroll, he could actually make it into an army of mine occasionally. And now he is even worse...

Weird stuff. Or does anyone see a use for this hero who is worthless in my opinion?

I'm playing against dwarves tommorow.. do you know where i can find these rules, cause I am sure he has been using both his engineers ballistic skill and the ability to re-roll misses in past games :huh:

Here (unfortunately).

Try equiping engineer with armour with mr of gromril & rune of resistance and joining cannonn/stone thrower crew. On the machine put the Valiant rune and you get pricey but unbreakable and almost undestructable machine, with engeener bonuses. :P Engineer is not useless at all!!!

That combo costs an awful lot and is probably not worth the bother .You might as well have a second stone thrower w/o runes for the cost of said combo.
