Title: Ras' Storm in the East and Tanelorn List...

Ras - August 11, 2005 10:43 AM (GMT)
Just to give you a fighting chance if you come up against me here is my list ;). Nah just kidding. This is the list I will be taking to any 2k Tournie I attend this year, and I would be most interested to here what you have to say in it. Te list is my conflict list plus new bits. The New bitz are all marked in red, so you can also see my Conflict list as well, how exciting! :D

The Orange Legion V2.0

Noble (HA, SDC, Sh, GW, Wand)
Sorceress (lvl 2, Seal and Scroll)
Sorceress (lvl 2, DSC, Scroll)

16 Warriors (Spears and Shields), SM
16 Warriors (RXBs and Shields), S
5 Riders (RXBs)
5 Riders (RXBs)

5 Shades
5 Knights (naked)
Chariot (Spears)
Chariot (Spears, RXBs)
Chariot (Spears, RXBs)
Chariot (Spears, RXBs)

RBT
RBT
RBT

[b]1999ptss in total
7 PD + the Wand
5 DD + 2 scrolls[b]

However I am torn between the above version and one where I loose a chariot + the RXBs on the chariots + the Noble for a HB with the Wand and the Seal, so I caan get three scrolls in for a better magic defense. The other reason for this other version is it is cheaper and means I only need one more chariot, not 2, so I am more likely to have the list ready in time.

Your thoughts, are as always, more then appreciated.

Cheers,

Ras

I like it :) looks very powerful. a LOT of shooting and magic seems pretty powerful too. chariots & knights I presume works as counter attackers. shades and riders do their usual duties.

one thing tho, is those RXB´s on the chariots, are they really worth it? other than that, I dont know what the list would need to fix without changing the whole thing :D

The RXBs are on the chariots because I had 30pts left over. Hwever that doesn't mean they aren't effective. Each one has four shots, thats 12 shots in total, which makes them rather like a DR unit when they all work together on one flank.

Tis a good list Ras, would love to give it a game with my revised bret list. The first thing to note is I'd rather have the noble, I wouldn't want a highborn for a chariot. However I do have a idea, it's too cut 1 chariot and bring in 1 unit of 5 dark riders with rxb's, you could get the last few pts rather easily by cutting something of your choice. This would give you more speed, less mini's to paint as you have the extra unit of them. With this you gain more flexibility and I think they'll do you more in the long run.

I was thinking the same Cal, but my reason for not doing so is that I simply hate painting Dark Riders, so I really don't want to do another unit (even though I already own the models). HOwever I have decided to loose the DSC and replace it with a 3rd scroll. I need the dispel power more then I need the extra dice. Its sad, but it solves all my magic problems and lets me have the 4 chariots of my dreams :)

Indeed Cal it would be an interesting game (despite my lack of interest in playing brets), perhaps at some point we will be able to fight it out.

Prince Cal - August 12, 2005 11:52 AM (GMT)
Hmmm, well if you hate painting them the list seems fine as it is. I don't see the need for a lord level fighting character is most armies unless you want a big nasty so keep the list as it is.

Oh and yeah, brets are rather boring to fight but I really don't need to have what happened before the conflict again. The huge urge to go back to the asur and take a cheesy list, in this case the dragon list would be used.

My reason for suggesting the HB was to provide lovely LD 10 and to allow me to have a third scroll without sacrificing PD, but I have decided that four chariots is the way to go. I have often thought so when deploying my 1.5k list that I should like two more chariots, so I can have two on either side of my infantry formation, or put all four together and just charge them headlong, especially against brets. :D

I don't understand what you are saying in your second paragraph at all though...

Prince Cal - August 12, 2005 02:50 PM (GMT)
Ras, basically me moaning about how people but so much doubt in my mind about what army I should be using before the conflict and me not wanting to go through that again.

You should always play high elves. They are just soo mcu kooler/better then brets...

Xarhain - August 12, 2005 05:26 PM (GMT)
That's correct, they are cooler. Much cooler. ^_^

List looks good, but are you down to 6 power dice now? That's bad. 2 spells with 3 dice and the wand. Most 2k defences could take that. Shame, at least you get +1 to cast.

4 chariots is good though. To be honest, though this may not help because it's a rather specific scenario, they were the things worrying me most when we played yesterday. Especially with you're unreal impact hit rolling. (7, 6, 6 on three charges for those wondering. Though it compensates for the bravery of my saurus at the end. Both units beaten by 4 and 5 in the same turn? No problem :P )

Have fun with the list. And don't face me. :P
