Title: Test list for Storm in the East II
Prince Cal - August 9, 2005 08:45 AM (GMT)
As I can't be bothered to paint anymore models then I need to for the tournie I'm just going to build up from my conflict list, so here's what I'm thinking:
Paladin : Grail vow, heavy armour, barded bret steed, enchanted shield, lance : 127pts (joins Grails)
Paladin Bsb: Knights vow, barded warhorse, gromril great helm: 119 (joins 8 strong unit of Knights of the Realm)
Damsel: Level 2, 2xScroll, warhorse: 160 (joins grail knights)
Damsel: Level 2, Scroll, chalice, warhorse: 160
8 Knights of the realm: champ, musician : 199pts
6 knights of the realm: Full command and warbanner: 169
6 knights of the realm: musician:154
6 knights errant: 120
6 knights errant: 120
5 Mounted Yeomen: shields: 80pts
5 Mounted Yeomen: shields: 80pts
5 pegi knights: 275
8 Grail Knights: standard, muscian: 296
Tactics are to generally bait on one flank and then concentrate on the enemies weakest flank to allow me to hopefully break and then get around them. Thoughts?

I see you like cav. With so many small units of knights, you're not likely of being flanked, which always happen to me. You'll have to attack enemy regiments with at least two units at a time, though. I usually prefer more missile fire, but mounted yeomen are fine for you if you truly want to have the all-cav army theme.

Arghhhhh, Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Not only are your points wrong for at least one of these units but this is the worst set up in the world. Why make a 6 man tiny unit with over 250pts!? The guy I played last at conflict I played last had four units of these + 1 unit of grails in the same way and I just swallowed them up. You can beat them in combat and claim a huge 250pts. Either make them bigger or remove the banner, you really don't want to be giving them banners, you will regret it so badly...

The pts are a typo Ras, I made sure I was right before the conflict. As for the banners, I'm gonna cut them on one unit but I don't regret it on one. I know how to play the list and I don't lose it, with the greatest respect Ras until results with that unit go bad I won't cut it as it works for me. Now, any other thoughts on the list?

Hey Ras, are you Rasputin?

hmmm, i'm not sure if you can do this but maybe adding an extra pegi knight and then having two flying units could increase your mobility loads, as you will be able to enchange 2 possibly crippeling warmachins at the same time. Also you could perform a pincer movement and sweep down the flanks. I would maybe but the scroll caddy in the 6 strong unit of knights as they will in less danger as you are less likely to charge tougher opponents with normal knights, so you damsel will find herself in less grueling combats. Thats my idea's anyway and i haven't played with the new brettonians much as i got rid of my old brettonians when the new rules came in and i couldn't be bothered to buy new models :P

Yup I am @Tzech
Cal: Well, what ever floats your boat, I still think its madness interactive, but hey if you are making it work then go with it. At least your not putting characters in the units....
I like the three scrolls. I doubt you will need them, but I am a big fan of lots of scrolls, there is always one game where you don't regret that third scroll... I have a suggestion for you. Drop one Peg (like you need more then three anyway) and put banners on the Yeomen units. They can't be captured and they allow your unit to take on most other fast cav and actually win. Also it will allow you to bring the banner bonus into combat with yoour small knight units without the risk of giving up 100pts. Bannered fast cav are great, uncapturable bannered fast gav are greater...

K, I've now taken a bit of time out and gone and revised the list. So here it is:
Paladin : Knights vow, heavy armour, barded bret steed, enchanted shield, lance : (joins 8 strong bannered Knights of the Realm)
Paladin Bsb: Knights vow, barded warhorse, gromril great helm, sword of might, virtue of duty (joins 8 un banneredstrong unit of Knights of the Realm)
Damsel: Level 2, 2xScroll, warhorse (joins grail knights)
Damsel: Level 2, Scroll, chalice, warhorse
8 Knights of the realm: champ, musician
8 knights of the realm: Full command and warbanner
6 knights of the realm
6 knights of the realm
5 knights errant
5 knights errant
5 Mounted Yeomen: shields
5 Mounted Yeomen: shields
3 pegi knights
8 Grail Knights: standard, muscian, conquers tapestry
The other option open to me is the errantry war list, I'm a tad reluctant to use it this time round as I'd want to run 3 big units of knights errant and I just don't have enough time to do that. So any thoughts?
