Title: Sillyness gone knightly.
Description: Anyone remember this?

KroxHandler - July 31, 2005 10:35 PM (GMT)
After seeing the Monthy Python's film regarding the silliest knights of the round table I began thinking. What about a silly brettonian army with a monthy feel to it?

First off:
Kniggits. No longer do we need horses, probably been eaten during much rejoicing. Nea, behind our gallant knights in armour trot their trusty squires with their coconut. Cloppity-clop....much silliness.
Further more: The kniggits of the round table does stop fighting even though their arms and legs fall off( "I'll bite your legs off, Arrhh"). Therefore instead of losing wounds when wounded they lose attacks, until such time as they have no attacks left. Then they will take it in the face and die. Silly idea.

Speaking of knights, let's not forget the Knights who say Ni!. That's right, they say....NI! Scares people to death they do....could probable be made into a fairly silly unit with lots of special rules.

As for magical items we can't be without the holy handgrenade of Antioce, can we? Single use only, one highstrength hit with the small template. Range some 8" or so and roll a scatter dice and a D6 to see if it hits the intended target. Good for killing monsters, especially furry one.

Speaking of furry monsters....that's right....that awful engine of destruction....the rabbit! One white ball of savagery that rends knights limb from limb. An ogre type of rare monster with wickedly sharp rodent teeth. And it's sooo cute.....run away!

Speaking of running away, the kniggits of the round table always boldy run away from a fight instead of cowardly fleeing. See the movie. Therefore let it be known that they will never drop their flag when breaking from combat.

For extra quirkyness we could include a really strange wizardtype hero, the Bobby. Blueclad and strapped with policeradio and badge he goes about the field forcing any chariots in the vincinity to slow to acceptable speed lest he fines them for speeding. Oh no! Probably tries to arrest murderers and force gunowners to rummage through their inventory in search of their license. Many, many lovely silly rules to be added to this one.

Any takers? Suggestions? Shrubberies?

The ability to keep fighting despite the loss of limbs was not a common feature of the Round Table Knights, but was unique to the Black Knight. So this would be some kind of special magic item or ability. ;)

Saying "NI!" does seem to cause a Panic test, even though it does not appear to do any direct harm.

Don't forget the special Cow ammunition for trebuchets.

Marvelous.
Perhaps the Black Knight should be a hero type? Or an upgrade for a knight regiment( like chosen knights of chaos)?

NI should definately cause a panictest, a most excellent solution. Perhaps we could involve some sillyness with shrubberies when challenging knight who say NI! ?

What about cows? A S10 hit with the small template? A cow that would be fun to borrow would be the kung-fu fightning cow from Kung Pow: Enter the Fist. You lob it at your enemy who then has to defeat it in Close combat....would kinda break the king arthur theme but still be funny.

What about Monthy Pythonian(?) Sorceress? She would no doubt treat water as open terrain( she floats!) and perhaps even be flammable? She is made of wood after all, as the most brilliant knight concludes....

I think I better see that wonderful movies once more, so much sillyness that just slips your mind.

Well, you could always just use Tim the Enchanter as your mage. Lots of pyrotechnics there.

Adn do not forget the most holy of magic weapons, The Holy Hand Grenade, capable of blowing thine enemies to tiny bits.

Though on a less silly note, several people in the past have actually fully created armies of this nature, I shall return when I scrounge up some links.

Have some suggestions from another forum I would like to pass on(slightly modded):

Peasants
M Ws Bs St T W I A Ld
4 3 2 3 3 1 3 1 7

Equipment:
Sword, Light Armour

Special Rules
All are Equal: All the unit count as champions, musicians and standard bearers as at any time they could all be any of those things! (only one standard counts toward combat resolution!)
Come and see the violence: The peasants can never use the generals leadership, as they don’t believe in ruling by an authority figure.

Knights who say NI!
M Ws Bs St T W I A Ld
5 4 3 4 4 1 5 2 9

Equipment:
Sword, Heavy Armour, Shield, Shrubbery.

Special Rules
NI!: A panic test must be taken in the first round of combat against the knights who say NI!
Shrub cover: The Knights of Ni will always have a ward save against shooting of 5+ for hiding behind their shrubberies.

Kniggits
M Ws Bs S T W I A Ld
7(4) 4 2 3 3 1 4 1 8

Equipment:
Sword, Heavy Armour, Shield, Squire with Coconuts

Squires with Coconuts
M Ws Bs S T W I A Ld
7(4) 3 0 3 3 1 4 1 8

Equipment:
Sword, Light Armour, Coconuts

Special Rules:
Models are on Cavalry bases as they are essentially cavalry.
When shooting at the unit, the Squires are removed first, which will drop the kniggits movement down to the lower value. All wounds to the squires are ignored on a 6+ ward save, counting as not too serious.

Charge/Run away: Knights must always charge if in range, however if they lose combat they must atomatically flee. The enemy cannot persue and they rally automatically, but they clearly underestimated their enemy. The hit&run rule for terradons plus an autocharge rule as though they were frenzied.

A small outline of the (hopefully) coming list. Hopefully even more sillier than the movie.

Don't forget the special Cow ammunition for trebuchets.

Feche la vache!
you need tim the enchanter definatly
and the holy hand grenaderules for it maybe as follows
The holy hand grenade of antioch

special rules-Thou shalt count to three
at the start of any turn you may declare you are pulling the pin. after the pin has been pulled count 3 turns(both players turns). at the start of the 4th turn place the large round template anywhere within 8' of the holder. anything under the template is killed(friend or foe)

Murmandus - August 18, 2005 09:29 PM (GMT)
Cost 35 Points

Holy Hand Grendade

Thought shall pulleth thy pin from thine most holy hand grenade and force thine opponent to count towardsith 3 not 2 nor 4 but count towardsith 3, at the sounding of thy number 3 thine most holy hand grenade shall be released with thine most powerful force.

Range 8"
Scatter plus artilery dice.

If thine doeseth role on thine artilery dice a misfire thine most idiotic personage shall be hit by the fulleth force of thine hand grenad. Tylisarieth - August 19, 2005 10:37 AM (GMT)
Three shal be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shalt be three. Thou shalt not count four, neither counteth thou five. Two shalt not be the number of the counting. When thou countest unto 2 thou shalt, knowing that it is gods will, proceed to three. Once three and only three has been countethed lobest thou His most holy hand grenade of antioch at thine beastly foe and he shal be blown to incy little bittys by gods power.
Amen to that
