Description: can you get them

if you can get a 0+ armour save what is the combination of armour and shields and how did you work it out.

Khrangar - July 28, 2005 07:19 PM (GMT)
It is possible, but you need a 4+ save normally (full plate armour from the Empire for example or magic armour), a barded steed, and the enchanted shield.

4+ save base, +2 save for Enchanted Shield, +2 save for barded steed.

So 4-2-2=0.

For Brets, the combination is:

Heavy Armour
Barded Warhorse
Enchanted Shield
Mithril Great Helm

This gives you a 0+ re-rollable save.

thats means he is INVINCIBAL

how much does the mithril great helm cost?????????

LordChilipepa - July 28, 2005 08:24 PM (GMT)
25pts I believe. And yes, that is one of the best defences in the game... unless you run into anyone with S4 ignore armour saves, in which case you are screw-diddly-ewed.

Lizardmen can do one better, however:

Scaly Skin (five plus)
Light Armour
Enchanted Shield
Cold One
Blessed Spawning of Quetzl

And that is a -1 plus armour save... for only 10 points out of your magic item allowance. And all that with stone, string and feathers.

well im givin my lord:

Lord
Grail vow,Lance(Silver lance of the blessed),heavy armour, shield(enchanted shield),Gromril great helm all for 293pts

also, he's not invincible. It states on the rules for armour saves that if you get an armour save below +2, you will still fail your save on a roll of one. The advantage of having a save as low as 0+ is that you're save won't be effected (ie you only fail on a 1) up to a str 5 hit- not too shabby, if you ask me.

I think you mean Gromril Great Helm. And it's 30 points.

I love this combination. I use it to protect an entire regiment: my paladin has the Gromril Great Helm and an Enchanted Shield and I decide that he receives all shooting and spells, against which he can survive easily with T4 and a 0+ re-rollable armor save. This way, none of my knights is killed before they arrive in close combat. I didn't test it yet, but it should make my shooty and magic-loving opponents (High and Dark Elves) angry.

Tyrion - July 29, 2005 10:55 AM (GMT)
if he is in a unit then you cant do that. shooting attacks cannot be allocated to/against characters. so it will affect the whole unit.

Arioch - July 29, 2005 10:54 PM (GMT)
Tyrion is right. You could put your character out front and hope the enemy shoots at him, but if he's in the unit then shooting (and most magic) is resolved against rank and file models, not against the character. Until the unit is reduced to (5?) or fewer models, at which point hits are randomized.
