Title: Brettonian Undead Warband
Description: Scaly's newest army (pics soon)

Well after playing dwarves, lizzies, brettonia, and beasts of chaos (in that order) I have decided to try my hand at painting and playing an undead force. However, the models for skeles and zombies I dont really like so I have bought one of my favorite boxed sets the men at arms! I have painted these warriors alive many times and now will try my best to paint them dead. Anyhoo I want you Vets to take a good look at my list and tell me the flaws you see. By the way I plan on using no vampires at all in my lists (as I like Necro's better in terms of fluff, models, and painting) as the army expands focusing more on horde tactics. To add the punch in CC that Vamps normally give to the list I plan on using Wright Lords and Wraiths...or if it really gets tough maybe Stringoi Thralls modelled as Frankenstien like abominations/necromancer experiements.
Necromancer (General)
Lvl 2
Cloak of Mists and Shadows
145
I love the cloak by the way and will add the obsidian amulet when he becomes a master.
10 Skeletons
Shields
Light Armor
Command
125
10 Skeletons
Shields
Light Armor
Command
125
4 Black Knights
Barding
100
And before anyone says something stupid the rules of warbands clearly state the minimum size for a calvary unit is 2.
What do you think?

the option of taking vampires depends on the points you play.in 2k games you will find that a couple vampires except for the necrarchs and the lahmians will be an some battle character and of course lord level characters can be up to lv.2 wizard(counts/lv.3 necrarchs with the appropriate bloodline power)and lv.3 lords(or lv.4 necrarchs) or of course some special characters such as manffred von carstein(690 pts. but lv.4 wiz./3+ward save/1 spell for free and a terrifying warrior.ws7/st5/t5/w4/at5/i8/ld10) :thumb: i only recommend master necromancers as second lords in 3k games.all this above in my opinion YOU SHOULD DO WHAT PLEASES YOU THE MOST

ummm... manffred, Scaly made a warband for the Warhammer Warbands... he can only have around 500 points, making the whole discussion of vampires and special characters somewhat irrelevant, due to their costs.
as for the list itself, it looks alright to me. You have a necromancer with is almost impossible to hit because of that cloak, two large blocks (for warbands) of skeletons which you can add onto by raising some more, and you have a nice flanking units in the form of black knights. Your character is a bit expensive, but for a mage, I suppose it has be to. My only concern is that your skeletons might get pummeled in combat, so I think you really need to make sure you add numbers to their units before you get into close combat. Other than that, looks good.

well iam sorry if the whole conversation about points and special characters is slightly irrelevant...iam not familiar with rules for warbands.i think that your list might suffer a bit against armies such as empire.the necromancer could be easily killed by a captain with a biting blade and your core troops will be no match for imperial swordsmen or halberdiers.as for your shock troops (black knights)they will be overwhelmed by the opposing infantry i suppose.in other words your army has not redundancy.try a warband made of the sylvanian list.i played against empire, orcs and high elves and it works just fine.grave markers and bound spells could make the difference and of course your thrall would be no math for most enemy heroes if equipped appropriately and placed in levy or militia unit :D
HOPE I HELPED...
