Title: Need advise on new slannesh army?
Description: painting, collecting and modeling
farsight - July 24, 2005 06:01 PM (GMT)
hi guys, i was thinking of collecting a slannesh as i think the models are cool and having troops which are immune to phsycology is always a bonus.
i have got my basic army list done for 2000pts and it is basically the same as one already posted so apoligies if i annoy anyone by using this list but here it is:
Exalted Sorcerer [General](lvl 3, MoS, Daemon Blade, Steed)
Exalted Champ (MoS, SoS, GW, Sh, Challice)
Sorcerer (lvl 2, Scroll)
Sorcerer (lvl 2, Scroll)
15 Marauders (LA, Sh), FC
15 Marauders (LA, Sh), CM
12 Daemonettes
Fiend of Slaanesh
Fiend of Slaanesh
5 Chosen Knights (MoS, Raptuous Standard) FC
5 Dogs
5 Dogs
5 Mounted Daemonettes
5 Mounted Daemonettes
1999pts in total
9 PD
6 DD + 2 Scrolls
i like this army as the exalted champion of steed of slannesh is my favorite model of the whole warhamer range so wanted to include him. as a paint scheme i wanted to use the one on the games workshop UK online site but wasn't sure of the effect, does anyone know any good colour schemes for painting slannesh.
I know it comes down to personal preference but i would really appreciate any advise i can recieve of you guys (and girls) for painting the pink people as i would like to fo the models justice with a good colour scheme.
thanks in advance, dan

Well all my warriors/sorcerers/champions all have some parts of their armour painted purple... : First i painted it black---> dry brussh with whatever metal colours (bolt metal is the best---> and then I inkt it with purple inkt... it looks wa little weird but i like it :D . Weird is always nice
But some coment on the list... 15 marauders? strange number for a unit of bad fighters... isn't it? Wont they yust die on the battle field instead of doing any damage?
Magic heavy, is good, very good with slaanesh... But is you toss away your Exalted champion you can get another level for your ex. sorcerer. and maybe toss one of the marauder units and with those points you can get a unit of warriors? or even try to use a regiment of chosen warriors... .
But i like thge knights... though they'll be the target of any shooting the eny gots, try and keep the shielded as mtch as it is posible ^_^ .
ciao

thanks for the advise, i like the colour scheme of inking the armour purple so may try that. it is true that the marauder units have an odd number so i will change this when i have time, id like to take of the exalted champion like you said but i am mainly collecting this army for that model so removing it is unlikely in my eyes, but thanks anyway.
also i will probaly change both marauder units for a single warrior unit as the models rock and it is true that 15 marauders wont be much beside a single night goblin ^_^ .
still thanks fo rthe advise, any more will be welcomed, dan

Why not yust use the ex. champion model as an sorcerer? they all wear chaos armour... ;) and as in my army the sorcere is sitting on de slaanesh steed to keep out of harms way.

okay ive changed my list at the moment to this:
Smaller Slannesh army
Exalted Champion of Slannesh: Sword of Battle, Enchanted Shield, Steed of Slannesh. 195pts
Sorcerer of Slannesh. Level 2 140pts
12 Warriors of Slannesh: FC. Shields. 230pts
12 Warriors of Slannesh: FC. Additional HWs. 254pts
5 Marauder Horsemen: Spears. Shields. Musician. 86pts
5 Marauder Horsemen: Spears. Shields. Musician. 86pts
991pts.
this new force has got what i need in my army and has enough speed to please the lord of pleasure himself ^_^ .
for my heroes which i will need i brought the mounted slannesh lord model on the steed of slannesh and also purchased "chaos sorcerer Huth'nke" + "chaos warrior with flail" these two characters will represent my mage and my exalted champion once he falls of his steed, which i hope wont happen.
for the paint scheme i have decided to paint the matal with a mix of chaos black and boltgun metal and then paint around the edges with pink and purple then add purple ink and finnaly a fine line around the very tips.
thanks for the advise, any tips on playing with slannesh will be greatly appreciated as once this army is brought i will have a game against a tzeench demon army :(
thanks in advance, dan

what could i do to this list to bring it up to 1500 pts, please help :(

To be honest there were certain aspects I didn't like in the 2K list, I have never been a fan of making a sorceror a combat hero so if I were you I wouldn't bother, perhaps get a power familiar instead, I have recently discovered the greatness of them, it allows more PD and more importantly (for me) DD. :D
With that extra PD, you could drop a sorceror for an Aisp. champ or Ex. champ depending; Because I feel that the combat fighting mortal heroes are just very hard. ;)
oh yeh, the marauder units, either scrap 'em or bulk 'em. Recently I have been playtesting a unit of 12 with GWs as a flanking unit; hasn't really worked. -_- If you scrap them then get some meaty warrior units in there. Having played skaven you will realise the luxury of really only needing an extra rank of them (12, 6*2) and treating them like elite warriors rather than mainstay units.
Right, the 1000pt list. Good, its basic to me, plain and simple, but why not, eh? ^_^ You have decent magic protection, a good fighting force of two rock hard units and a slightly 'high' man riding a snake. And you have two units of marauder horsemen protecting your flanks, stopping most perils of the mortal chaos army. Play test it a while, I'm not too sure how well the mount will survive though, you tell me.

Don't shoot the messenger but I think the guy with the flail is a nurgle champ, I just hope you haven't 'opened him up' yet ;)
Oh, to answer your question in the other topic, yes, slaanesh is good against undead as they are immune to the effects of fear :D (if anything they embrace such a powerful emotion).
farsight - August 11, 2005 07:32 PM (GMT)
thanks for tyhe advise there omid, i was thinking of having a power familiar in there anyway fo some more offence in the magic phase ^_^ and better chances of dispeling.

no i will not shoot you but i will tell you that in the collecters guide it said "champion of slannes" plus the model has the slannesh sign on his shoulder, but i have got a nurgle sorcerer who i have managed to paint purple enough to look like slannesh B) .
so this is my army list (again):
Smaller Slannesh army- 812pts.
Sorcerer of Slannesh: Level 2. Power Familiar. 190pts
12 Warriors of Slannesh: FC. Shields. 230pts
12 Warriors of Slannesh: FC. Shields. 230pts
5 Marauder Horsemen: Flails. Musician. 81pts
5 Marauder Horsemen: Flails. Musician. 81pts
now i know i have completely changed this army but i am trying to get it up to 1500pts and im unsure, i want to add my steed of slannesh champion, some furies (warmachines) and something hard hitting- probally some chariots, but am so confused.
 can someone help me out- this is the last time i ask for help,
thanks in advance dan
farsight - August 20, 2005 05:28 PM (GMT)

“Black Death” Aspiring Champion of Slannesh: Book of secrets, shield, 142pts
“Son of Satan” Sorcerer of Slannesh: Level 2, Power Familiar, 190pts
”The Devils Shield” 12 Warriors of Slannesh: FC, Shields, 230pts
”The Devils Sword” 12 Warriors of Slannesh: FC, Shields, 230pts

”Warriors from the north” 5 Marauder Horsemen: Flails, Musician, 81pts
“The Dogs of Despair” 6 Warhounds of chaos, 36pts
990pts
there it be and im sorted, farsight
LordKjarl - August 20, 2005 06:52 PM (GMT)
Hmmm... the book of secrets is expencive and could be risk for your ex.champion. I wouldn't give him magic stuff or yust some thing that protects him like armour of damnation or enchanted shield... but that's up to you because i don't know if you'll use him in combat.
Wouldn't two Power Stones do more then the power familiar? yust a thought...
Derek101 - August 20, 2005 10:53 PM (GMT)
On the conterary Lord Kjarl, the book of secrets is a good thing to have, it optimises the magic phase with someone who won't die easy, chaos champs are some of the hardest characyers for thier points.
Also the power familiar is better IMO as it is not a mere one use only and also allows a better magic phase for your phase and against the opponent.
Total PD 6
DD 5, that is a lot in 1k ;)
My thoughts anyway, Omid B)
LordKjarl - August 21, 2005 06:04 AM (GMT)
Yeah you could be right ^_^ . But he must make shure he doesn't roll a miscast with his champion.

probally just me being stupid omid but what's your solution as i understand what your saying that i probally do have to many magic dicebut what can i have in it's place?
i may just give my champ the bersrker sword or whip of pleasure?
thanks anyway guys ^_^
farsight - August 22, 2005 06:13 PM (GMT)

”The Devils Shield” 12 Warriors of Slannesh: FC, Shields, 230pts
”The Devils Sword” 12 Warriors of Slannesh: FC, Shields, 230pts
”Chieftains of the tribes” 5 Marauder Horsemen: Flails, Musician, 81pts
