Title: WFRP
Reaper of Nurgle - July 9, 2005 10:54 AM (GMT)
I'm wondering if anybody here would be interested in a game of WFRP?
I'd hope to get three of four people to start. For character creation roll twice for careers and pick the one you like best, stats are done by the book.
I'm not that experienced at DMing so it will be a few pre-made scenarios to start though!
Aesgareth - July 9, 2005 08:46 PM (GMT)
I've played WFRP, and I sincerely enjoyed how ridiculously weak and helpless my character was. Count me in.
The Albino Rat - July 9, 2005 10:17 PM (GMT)
What does wfrp stand for?
Reaper of Nurgle - July 10, 2005 07:58 AM (GMT)
Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay is what it stands for The Albino Rat.
The Albino Rat - July 10, 2005 05:26 PM (GMT)
Ok, thanks........................ never heard of it. Any links to rules or breif description of what it is?
Reaper of Nurgle - July 10, 2005 06:47 PM (GMT)
Its the officiall warhammer RPG by Black Industries and Green Ronin. It uses only d10s and is grittier and deadlier than DnD. Umm yeah and their are a few previews of the book
here. And a few useful reviews from
here
LordKjarl - July 11, 2005 05:46 PM (GMT)
I've the rule book somewhere in a dusty corner of my room ^_^ . And yes I'm intersted in playing. Count me in aswell. :fight:
Reaper of Nurgle - July 11, 2005 07:05 PM (GMT)
One more player to go but i'd prefer two. If you give me your races I could roll up careers and stats for you.
Oh and its 2nd Edition no encumberance rules but advanced armour rules and healing draughts are rarity scarce and require average difficulty craft (Apothecary) tests instead of the normal.
LordKjarl - July 11, 2005 07:09 PM (GMT)
I'll be an Elf. if thats ok ^_^
Reaper of Nurgle - July 11, 2005 08:50 PM (GMT)

I'll go with a human. I don't like how high that elf's stats are looking, and I'd like to avoid having a similarly powerful character (crosses fingers for Rat Catcher).
Murmandus - July 11, 2005 09:25 PM (GMT)
I can use my human wizard that i've been using at my local club, it has no stat upgrades as were only on the second mission.

Murmandus I know you have rolled your character in real life but just as a precaution against cheating I'm doing the rolls myself. If you could chose a race i'll roll up your careers and stats.
Aesgareth - July 12, 2005 07:21 AM (GMT)
Ya know, peasant does have a nice servile feel to it, but how often does one get to have a character who is actually a professional thug? I pick thug as my career, my good man, and may the skulkudgery in this campaign flow like wine!
Vriishnak the Twisted - July 12, 2005 01:55 PM (GMT)
Alright, while I don't actually know the rules, I'd be willing to give this a go.
Race, I think I'd prefer a human, and if you can tell me anything else I need to get started, I'll provide it ASAP.
Reaper of Nurgle - July 12, 2005 02:45 PM (GMT)
In character creation you start out in a career in which you have three thing Skills, talents and trappings. Because it is the first career you have all these things to represent what you had before you adventured. Trappings are your equipment skills are skills you use whilst talents are things that can enhance skills or statistics or combat capability.
Your character also has an Advance scheme which details how you can raise your stats. When you start you can make one free advance within your scheme.
Vriishnak you have a choice between a Zealot and a Kislevite Kossar.
The Zealot is as its name suggests Zealot you start out with a Flail or Morning star a piece of light armour for the body and arms and a bottle of good craftmanhip spirits.
It has skills dedicated to combat and public speaking the same for talents.
The Kislevite Kossar is an all around fighter starting with a great weapon and a bow leather armour for arms and legs with both leather and mail on the body. It has skills and talents for combat. This career means you are from Kislev.
When you choose I can detail what you can do in more detail.
As a human you also gain the skills Common knowledge (the empire) which allows you to have a common knowledge of things peculiar to the empire, gossip which is used to gossip and the ability to speak reikspeil the language of the empire. You also gain two random talents which are savvy which raises your intelligence by 5 and Resistance to poison which improves your chance of survival against poison.
Stats are all 20 + 2D10 one stat of your choice can be replaced with 31 the average of 20+2D10.
Your stats are
WS(roll under to hit melee)= 25
BS(roll under to hit ranged)= 33
S(S based skills)= 37
T(T based skills, resisting certain diseases and effects)= 32
Agility(determines order of battle with ag + D10 highest going first) = 37
Int(Int based skills)= 30 + 5 from savvy talent
Willpower(WP based skills, resisting mind effects)= 29
Fellowship(Fel based skills)= 30
A= 1
W= 11
Strength Bonus(Added to damage. First digit of S)= 3
Toughness Bonus(Removed from damage taken. First digit of T)= 3
M= 4(Standard human M)
Mag(determines how many dice are rolled to cast pells only used by wizards)= 0
Insanity Points(gained from terrifying events and critical hits can cause you to gain Insanities when you gain enough)= 0
Fate Points(Can be used to stop death and allow you to get away wounded only prescious resource that are only given at the end of adventures and other great events) = 3
Fortune Points(same number of them as fate points can be used to re-roll failed tests, Increase how many parries you make, increase your Ag test in combat to + 2d10 and grant an extra half action a turn. Renews every day)= 3
Note- My explantaion may be completely terrible so if there is something you do not understand feel free to ask.
LordKjarl- Kithband warrior is an Elf only career with ranged skills and talents on foot starts with leather armour for Body and arms and an elfbow with 10 arrows.
Outrider is a mounted career which starts witha riding Horse, bow or crossbow, a net, whip or lassoo, and leather armour for Body and arm. it is designed for outdoor survival with skills and the same for talents with one combat talent thrown in.
Vriishnak the Twisted - July 12, 2005 03:06 PM (GMT)
Alright, Zealot sounds like the way to go. What's a roleplaying game without somebody preaching about Sigmar's wrath? :D
Reaper of Nurgle - July 12, 2005 03:30 PM (GMT)
Zealots can raise their WS T and WP up to 10% and their S and Fel up to 5%. Zealots W can be raised by up to +2.
For skills they have
Academic Knowledge(Theology)(Int skill):Deep knowledge of theology. roll under int to remeber.
Charm(Fel skill): Charm people to do what you want to lie to bluff and to beg. Charm can affect 1 person per 10 points of fellowhip.
Common Knowledge(The Empire)(Int): Used to know pertinent facts of the people habits and other things of the people of the empire. As humans already gain this skill automatically you have a +10% bonus to this skill as you have gained it twice.
Intimidate(S skill): Used to coerce and frighten. Reist with WP test. Under circumstances can be a Fel test instead of a S test.
Read/Write(Int): you can read and write whatever languages you speak. Only tests needed are for old idioms, obscure phraseology and archaic usages.
For Talents
Coolheaded (+5 WP) or Very Strong(+5 S), Hardy (+5 T) or Suave(+ 5 Fel), Public Speaking(affect 10 times the number of people with charm), Specialist Weapon Grou (flail) can use Flails and Morning stars without penalty.
When you finish your career you may become an Agitator, Initiate, Flagellant(1 insaity required), Friar or Outlaw.
You can advance one stat now. Every time you gain 100XP you can advance one statistic again for 100xp to move to a new career at the end of the old one costs 100XP to move to a basic career that is not on your exit list costs 200XP. To move into a new career it's trappings are required which are the items needed to "Join" that carrer when you come close to moving on I can remind you of these.
To all: Your IP will not be shown In-game so if someone goes Insane you'll have to wait till it happens to know it!
Vriishnak the Twisted - July 12, 2005 04:10 PM (GMT)
Okay, let me see if I've got this right. If I do, just apply it to my character, and if not tell me where I'm wrong.
At this point, I can increase any one of my stats. It will go up by 1 point, or by the % you gave at the top of the post? Either way, I think WP is the one to raise for now.
For talents, I get my choice of either Coolheaded or Very Strong, and either Hardy or Suave, and one or both of the last two?
My choices would be Very Strong, Hardy, and Public Speaking, if that's how this works, and I suppose Public Speaking if I only get one from the whole list.

Any stat of WS BS S T Ag Int WP Fel always raises by 5 at a time for one advance of 100xp. A W and Mag always raise by +1 at a time for 100 xp.
Talents you choose between Coolheaded and Very Strong and choose between Hardy or suave you gain both of the other two automatically as there isn't a choice.
Vriishnak the Twisted - July 12, 2005 07:16 PM (GMT)
Okay, then WP gets the stat increase, and I'll take Very Strong and Hardy.
LordChilipepa - July 12, 2005 09:33 PM (GMT)
I'll join in: I bought the rules, and want to try it out.
Dwarf, please, RoN.
The Albino Rat - July 12, 2005 11:57 PM (GMT)
Seeing as other people are joining without the rulebook, i would also like to join. I'm not sure if evil/ bararic races races are avalible, so if a can't be skaven or dark elf, I would like to be a human.
LordKjarl - July 13, 2005 05:42 AM (GMT)
(I've send a pm bakc) as said in the pm I'll take an outrider because a scout on horse is yust way to nice ^_^ .
Reaper of Nurgle - July 13, 2005 06:58 AM (GMT)
O.K we are getting a bit overpopulated so i'll run you both as seperate groups through the same adventure.
Group 1: Aesegarth, LordKjarl, Vriishnak the Twisted and LordChilipepa
Group 2: The Albino Rat, Dreg and Murmandus (One more still free)
Lord Chilipepa
you have a choice between a Miner and a Jailer.
The Albino Rat
No evil races yet so you're a human.
You have a choice between Barber Surgeon and a Boatman.
Murmandus
I asuume you want a human as your other character is.
You have a choice between Valet and a Miner.
LordKjarl - July 13, 2005 10:50 AM (GMT)
Hmmm... Our group sounds like fun a Thug and Zealot a dwarf and an elf. :D I think there 'll be alot of quarrels... But I like! It 's good for rpg'ing :thumb:
hehe.
Dreg - July 13, 2005 11:30 AM (GMT)
Ive said ill join in but i aint said what race yet so ill be a... human. :D
LordChilipepa - July 13, 2005 11:43 AM (GMT)
Well, Miner is far more suited to the ol' adventuring... plus it's more dwarfy. So I'll be a Miner.
EDIT: Forgot to mention: I've read Plundered Vaults. Thought I should mention that. If you decide to run us through some PV adventures, I'll do my damnedest not to metagame, but if you have Ashes of Middenheim or owt else that would be better.
Reaper of Nurgle - July 13, 2005 12:18 PM (GMT)
Dreg you have a choice between Watchman and Apprentice Wizard.
I've actually got an Idea for an adventure so I think i'm goona forgo the ole published adventure route Chili so your knowledge shouldn't matter.

Your party will be fine to go the character thread for both games should be up soon it'll just be your race stats and career until you send skill and talent choices and fluff
If there is one person who would like to join the second party then they can start but if a couple of days go past without someone i'll start you off slightly easier encounters for them until someone joins.
The Albino Rat - July 14, 2005 03:35 AM (GMT)
What does a barber sugeon and a boatman do? (boatman is obvious, but what is a barber sugeon?)
EDIT: I'll be a barber sugeon.
Dreg - July 17, 2005 06:11 PM (GMT)
Ill be a watchman. Would of posted sooner but my pc decided to explode:P
