Title: 1500 pt Lizardmen list

Lord of Nonsensical Crap - July 7, 2005 01:03 AM (GMT)
Having recently posted 1000 and 2000 pt lists respectively, I decided to do the usual go between and post a 1500 list (which I shall have to worry about before I worry about a 2000-pt army):

Scar-Veteran Ara-kor- gw, light armour, shield, Charm of the Jaguar Warrior, Aura of Quetzl, Blessed Spawnings of Quetzl and Sotek
Skink Priest Tlacepotl- level 2, 2 dispel scrolls
20 Saurus- full command
20 Saurus- full command
10 Skinks- javelins
10 Skinks- javelins
10 Skinks- blowpipes, Scouts
3 Kroxigor
3 Terradons
3 Salamanders

I'm sorry that I didn't put down and points values (my version of the list with all the points on it is elsewhere at the moment), but it's just a little below 1500 pts

Note that this list is in no way static: if I choose, I can switch Tlacepotl with this (slightly cheaper) hero choice recommended by Chili:

Scar-Veteran (Unnamed)- Battle Standard Bearer, light armour, Blessed Spawning of Quetzl, Huanchi's Blessed Totem

What thinkest thou?

if you plan on switching out the skink priest(i would keep him) put a tepok mark on one of the scar-vets.
a good list i would say

Yeah, it's waht you would call a "special list." My only concern, though, is that I have only two ranked-up units in the list, especially since a friend of mine is planning on building up a 2000-pt Skaven army made up of lots and lots of ranked units. :(

i wouldnt worry too much about that buddy, i collect skaven and lizards and can tell you that all ratty armies will have lots of ranks in their units, thats how they (try) to win combats, saurus can rely a little more on their combat abilitys to get them through ^_^

i would use your sallies too help thin down big units and hopefully take of a few ranks while you do so

This is actually very similar to the list I'm currently taking to Conflict: I think it's a strong skeleton (I hope so!), and I would assure you that two units of Saurii are all you will ever need or be able to afford at 1500pts. Remember, 3 units of Clanrats are worse than one unit of Saurii provided that you catch 'em all in the front.

On the Skaven-fighting note: I can't remember when I recommended that BSB, or in what context, but don't lose all your dispel power! My Conflict list has no Priest, but 2 marks of Tepok: if you have no scrolls, I would say that 2 or more marks of Tepok are pretty essential, whether they go on the Saurii or the characters. With 4 dice, you're OK at most 1500pt games, and you have your skinks, Terradons and JSOD to take out enemy mages. With only 2, it's highly likely that on turns 1 and 2, before you can mage-hunt effectively, your army is going to take a hideous pounding in the magic phase. Your Saurii have to be protected at all costs - there is very little in 1500pts that can actually hurt two huge bundles of Saurii, but things like Warp Lightning are in there.
