Alright, I've begun a new IG army ( the last one I posted on here was too expesnive to buy and too difficult to paint, so I decided to scrap that idea and begin new). Anyway I know this is going to sound like a noob question, but it's been buggin me.
Does a model/characters attack number only count for attacks in CC or for shooting attacks too? For example, lets say my IG vet. sgt. w/ 2 attacks carries a storm bolter which is Assault 2 (I know this isnt possible but bear with me for the example.) Does that mean he can fire use his bolter twice, each time shooting twice, or does he only get to fire once, 2 times? Basically what I mean is does he get 4 shots (2 attacks, each attack fires twice) or 2 shots (the amount granted by the weapon.)
And do the number of Attacks only count in CC?
I've been playing where a model only gets to fire the number of times it lists for the weapon, so an autocannon team fires twice for example. Just recently I guy I play with brought up the idea that maybe the attacks of the model carried over into the weapon attacks.
And I know this should go in th eWarhammer thread, but does this apply in Fantasy as well? Will an archer hero w/ 2 Attacks be able to fire his bow twice in the shooting stage or is his attacks limited to CC? I'm checking here b/c I'm still new in Fantasy and want to collect a WE army, so I just want to clarify some things that have me confused.
Thanks guys
The number of Attacks(A) the model has is only for close combat. The amount of shots the gun has is indicated in the weapon profile. So if it says 'Assault 2' then you have the benefits of an assault weapon (move and shoot) and have 2 shots with that weapon per turn. If it is 'Heavy 1', then its move or fire and you only have 1 shot in the shooting phase. Any other rules, such as Melta, Rending, etc. will have to be looked up in the rulebook.
As for the Fantasy question, you still only get 1 shot per turn unless your missile weapon has the ability to fire more than once, such as a Repeater Crossbow and the like.
Yeah thanks for the input. I re-read my rulebook after posting and realized how stupid my question was. Haha guess I shoulda looked there first. Ayway thanks again
