Title: Gnoblars and goblins - related?

Grimgor Ironhide - June 23, 2005 12:17 PM (GMT)
Is there anything in the ogre army book or elsewhere that describes what exactly a gnoblar is, and whether it is related to a goblin? Because the models are nearly exact copies of each other . . .

Well the models aren't all that alike but yes, gnoblars are cousins of the greenskins.

Ahh im glad someone asked that question cus i also thoguht that they had to be some relation(i jsut thoguht they were goblins but because ogres r dumb they call em gnoblar).
Well cheers for clearing that up.

Ah well its a bit hard to pin whether they are related, or where they come from, as usally every year on any topic site there are debated on where say orcs are from... like people think they spawn from fungus, but others say they must have a mother as they have belly buttons.... anyway, I think games workshop is leaving these type of things up to our interpritation... how much fun would it actually be if we knew every single detail about where all the different races came from... there wouldnt be much left to guess, hence making it less exiting to create a certain feel for an army... ^_^

I think they are part of that loose group called greenskins, which now has 4 'layers'

Orcs
Goblins
Gnoblars
Snotlings

You forgot Hobgoblins, which work in between Orcs and Goblins.

Tylisarieth - June 24, 2005 03:45 PM (GMT)
and black orcs, which are at the top

There are supposed to be countless types of greenskin, all the kobolds and troglagobs are classed as green too (even though they aren't painted green in the WD - traitors! :P ). In fact, gnoblars are mentioned in the O&G book on page 6

Angry Priest - June 24, 2005 09:48 PM (GMT)
The breeds I know are FIRE KOBOLDS, TROGLAGOB, HILL GOBLINS and DUST GOBLINS.

any more main ones?

Tylisarieth - June 25, 2005 01:51 PM (GMT)
somewhere in the OaG book white orcs are mentioned

Grimgor Ironhide - June 25, 2005 03:43 PM (GMT)
oh yeah, I'm reading the part of the O&G book, and it does mention gnoblars as being greenskins: hill goblins, troglagobs, forest goblins, mountain orcs, boggarts, kobolds, and gnoblars.

speaking of white orcs, for a campaign a year ago I made up a new list of orcs, the list was all orcs and some HE units, and the leader of it was a half-orc, half-high elf guy. it was a pretty gross conversion, mostly orc model but painted with elven flesh and wielding elven equipment but with orc armor, and then a big elven cloak. really, really messed up.

Tylisarieth - June 25, 2005 06:12 PM (GMT)
that is disgusting and probably biologically implauseible
no-elf would ever accoiciate with an orc
you make me sick :thumb:
