My friend and I want to fight a scenario at the weekend. The mighty vampire Count Dracul has gathered his army and is leading it against the dwarven clan led by King Valrik, determined to take over and plunder the famous brewery of Broxin the Beer Lord.

We agreed that I create the two armies and he chooses the one he wants to use. Ive made two lists now. I only played with dwarves once and Ive never used vampires before. So Im not sure if the lists are balanced.

The lists should not only have about the same chances of winning, they should also be evenly matched to provide an exciting battle. So I tried to keep things like unit sizes and magic in fair proportions.
Also, the armies are supposed to be stylish.


So please tell me if you think if the lists fulfil these aspects!

I cant say nothing about the dwarves.. But i think it's a nice rounded vampire list you have created!
It's going to be hard to keep them necromancers alive, but isn't it allways like that?

If I should make some changes to that army i would maybe swap the spirit host and the fell bats for another big infantry unit (skeletons preferable)..

how come it would be harder to keep them alive against dwarfs than any other army? just wondering :) I posted a reply in the dwarf section of the board so have a peek there :)

Yeah, I thought about that. But I think that a classical vampire army which the list is, thus based on Dracula himself ^_^ , should include all the vampire-related beings there are, including ghosts and giant bats.

k.. I like the idea behind the army, so if you want to include everything then by all means follow your idea...

it is after all not optimizing hammer, but warhammer which is supposed to be played for the fun of it.

You are right though that the Vampire army does seem a bit small. I could include another skellie block by raising the total points and providing the dwarves with a unit of rangers.
Or do you think that would be a bad idea in regard to balance of the armies?

funky against dwarves you will have an amazing thing that you dont normally get with vc ! *Drum roll* YOUR MOVEMENT !!!! well knowing dwarves are slow, you can manuvour your guys into good/better positions, just a woord of caution, u'll need to get rid of that flame cannon and all that artiliery very quickly, as if they hig your skeletons etc. it will be harder to regain numbers.....dam dispell dice, apart form that i'd make the 10 ghoul unit into 2 x 5 for psychological reasons, and so when they flee , u wont lose that many points. apart ffrom that good list and may your fangs sink deep into dwarf flesh :lol:

once again I can say nothing about the dwarven army, as my knowledge of them is lacking, so it's hard to say anything about balance...

But for the VC army I recomend you to take that extra block, else it will have its trouble against decent dwarven armies..

But also beware that the dwarven army is good enough so you avoid a massacre... Kepp the lord away from shooting, and keep the necromancer alive 'till you infantry blocks hits the dwarven army will be the key to succes for the VC army..
