Let me know what you think
It looks okay, though there are a few things I would change.
First, I think that halberdiers are good detachments, but are not the best as main units. This is because of the three main core units (swordsmen, spearmen, halberdiers) they are the most vulnerable. Having only a 6+ AS in combat, WS3 and I3 means that the enemy will bash through the the front rank, leaving few (if any) models to strike back. Having S4 doesnt bring very much if you hardly have any models to use it.
Swordsmen are a lot better for main units. They have WS4, so will be harder to hit and will hit themselves more easily. They have I4, so they will often be striking first. And they have a 4+ AS in combat, which makes them more durable. Spearmen are okay too, because they at least have a 5+ AS, and if you lose models in the front rank, you still can attack with those in the second.
Swordsmen suck as detachments. Unlike the main units, which should absorb damage, detachments should be able to kill. Halberdiers and free company are better at that than swordsmen when used as detachments.
So Id change the main units to swordsmen or spearmen and use halberdiers or free company as detachments. Also try to make the one detachment larger than six models, otherwise it will be too weak and too vulnerable.
Second, the Greatswords are too small. One of their main advantages is that they are stubborn. This means they are great at holding heavy charges. If you have only ten, then after a heavy charge you will hardly have any left. The three of them remaining might hold, but will be killed in the next round. Despite their cost and their elite status, Id take at least 15, better 20 or even 24.
To do this you dont have enough points. Thats why Id leave them out completely and use the points elsewhere, which brings me to my third point.
You dont have any missile fire except for the small detachment of handgunners. Considering that you have a lot of infantry, Id include more missile fire. Empire infantry is not the best, so its important to weaken enemy units before they reach you. You hardly have any magic to do so, so having more missile fire is essential. Relying fully on the hellblaster is too risky, especially because your opponent knows how devastating it is and will try to destroy it as fast as possible.
Id replace the Greatswords with a unit of 15 handgunners.
Finally, the 40 points for the armour of dawn can be used a better way. By taking mundane full plate armour your captain has a 0+ AS. The few models still alive after the knights charge will hardly be able to penetrate that. Invest the points in more models to increase the size of the detachments.
the army though balanced needs some changes in my opinion.firstly i'll agree with funky the elf regarding detachments.i 'd also upgrade the battle wizard to lv.2.at last i would include at least one cannon. :thumb:
