Title: Army of Sigmar help

A friend of mine is starting an Empire army, and plans to use the Army of Sigmar list at the back. Any advice you can give on putting together and effective AoS list? (Other than not playing AoS at all)

This seems like a tough list to play, since you can't have any lords what so ever. As such, I would suggest using Luthor Huss in the army since he counts as 2 hero choices in the list. Flagellants are a must, maybe 2 units or so of them, but as such, you need 2 units of Militia at least.

I would also suggest a unit of Swordsmen and a Knightly Order for combat purposes, since they have WS 4. A Battle Standard Bearer would be a good choice as well since Empire as a whole has relatively low Ld compared to some of the 'better than average' armies.

For a General Luthor Huss or an Arch-Lector of sigmar(I'm assuming you can use him). 2 units of flagellants at least otherwise why play this list? A large block of swordsmen as the "Arch-Lectors Guard" and some knights of one of the more holy orders. I think a battle standard would be of limited use seeing as Flaggies are unbreakable and thats the main reason to play this list. The Empire relies on its cannons to deal with big nasties so you need at least one probably two but they're not exactly fluffy. Tactics would be to get the flaggies to tarpit the enemies good units and then flank charge or leave them alone altogether. Good flankers are units of 5 knights with a musicain and pistoliers(always useful with the empire). Why does your friend wan't to play a sigamrite army? If they like unbreakable troops play undead. I would suggest a standard empire list and then just theme it by taking lots of warrior priests and a unit of flaggelants.

yeah, its cool to play back of the book armies, but also build up another army as well other wise you wont hav an army 2 use in tournaments. otherwise lots of flagellents, i did a conversion from militia for mine and used the sigmarite mordheim books and flails for their wepaons, lots cheaper! :thumb:

If you play with the Sigmarite list, then Arch Lectors are a no-no, since they are Lords, and the list says you can't have any lords whatsoever, hence Luthor counting as 2 heroes.
