Title: British Expeditonary Force
Murmandus - May 6, 2005 09:26 PM (GMT)
I was thinking about doing a force from the time of the British Empire (Rule Britannia) and using the Praetorian models for it and converting them to having handguns. I am going to use tallarn desert raider models for the free companys and Archers. I was thinking it would be a cool fluff army. I included the priest as a sort of missionary attached to the british forces to preach to the heathens or wipe them out and also so i would be completely overpowered by magic. Heres the army i came up with, im going to convert praetorian pistoliers as well.

I think you need more melee/cavalry units. Some DoW pikemen would be fluffy enough, and I'd also add some more pistoliers.

I definitiely dig the names...Solon and Churchill....but in the british army its Leftenant....anyway other than that I think you need some more speed.....work on cav.

BUT it's still written Lieutenant, just pronounced leff-tenant.
Can't really help with the list (don't play Empire), but I like the idea.

I've tried to do a similar thing with the british forces at Aquitane, I've used Brets but I love the theme, I love the idea but I think I'd work better as a 40k Imperial Guard force. You could create the horde idea better and the way it works would be more realistic.

i wanted to do it in the warhammer world as it is more realistic with the hand guns, and also you arent going to get nuked by a basilisk or something like that when you try and form a square :thumb: :thumb:

I'd be more tempted to try a Redcoat force, myself. More in keeping with the Empire rules, and still damn cool... Free Company/Swordsmen could be scottish regiments, with bucklers and basket-hilted broadswords. Knights and Pistoliers could be cavalrymen with pistols and sabres, and cannon would be appropriate (Praetorian models fit more with the time period of the gatling gun and the field gun). Standards were still in full use, close combat was still an early resort... I think that would be a lot more in keeping with the mechanics of both the army and the game, although understandably the models would be more difficult to do (WH historical? Non-GW?).
That being said, whatever you do, go for it!
Land of Hope and Glory,
Mother of the Free;
How shall we extol thee?
We who are born of thee!
Wider yet and wider, let thy bounds be set.
*CENSORED*, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet!
*CENSORED* who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet.

You'd really want to have different units representing different parts of the army, pistoliers could be indians,Free company could be africans, and huntsmen could be africans/native americans.
LordChilipepa - May 8, 2005 10:02 AM (GMT)
Nah, if you wanted native attached regiments, then Dogs of War would be far more fitting. The British Army was, for the most part, British.

somebody has already done a redcoat force so i wanted to do something different, :thumb:
