Title: Clan moulder appendix list
Description: my 1500pt moulder list notes are welcome
Derek101 - April 11, 2005 06:03 PM (GMT)
After making a small skryre army and being bored by its sadness (farsight) I have decided to start a horde of hideous looking moulder ( but I'm sure they are lovely once you get to know them). Here is my 1500pt list, any notes are welcome, but don't be too harsh.....
1 master moulder (light armour, whip, bands of power, warpstone amulet)
1 Harbinger of mutation (warpstone amulet, 2 extra Warpstone tokens)
1 Harbinger of mutation (warpstone amulet, 2 extra Warpstone tokens)
4 giant rats, 4 giant rats (the new lustria ones)
3 rat ogres, 3 rat ogres (the new lustria ones)
20 stormvermin (full command, shields, ratling gun, umbranner)
4 plague rats
33 slaves total= 1499
I know there are probably too many warpstone amulets but they are soooo useful, I plan to put the master moulder in witha unit of rat ogres for added punch. I gave the extra Wtokens because the harbingers are only lvl 1 wizards. the only problem I think the army may have is against ld tests and long assaults. for 2000 I will probably bulk up the stormvermin and definitely a grey seer.

looks kind of small for a skaven army

Can't you only have 1 warpstone amulet or is it something special in the apendix? Also, you definately need more troops. If nothing else, you'll get beat by shear numbers, which is funny considering its skaven. Get rid of a harbinger or something and add more rank and file.

To my knowledge you can have as many amulets as you like in an army. I feel two harbingers is the right amount mainly for dispelling the opponents magic.
As for the size of the army, I don't think it is that small, as I should have put 4 giant rat packs meaning 24 rats and four packmasters. This means 48 giant rats, 6 rat ogres, 14 packmasters, 33 slaves and 20 stormvermin. Overall, It is a larger force than I usually see from the opponent.

no no that list is large enough omid, i would, advise, that you keep the army as it is as you have more than enough troops (129 if i can count correctly, which is very good for a skaven horde). i would keep the two harbringers as they provide you with 4 dispel dice over 3 which can help alot, also the spell they have with the large template rocks. i would advise you give one of the harbringers a dispel scroll so at least you have some back up ^_^
all in all it looks a good list (yey no skyre  )

I like the list since it seems fairly fast but maybe 40 slaves(2 units) would help and as mentioned before a dispel scroll. Im making a moulder army and it looks suprisingly similiar but no stormvermin but clanrats. Are the plague rats in two units? If so this looks like a very interesting MSU type army as you can hold with the swarms and then flank with the GR's. Skavenbrew and a thingscatcher is great for a theme. Nice start.
But I really really thought that you couldnt have more than one of any magic item besides dispels scrolls and warpstone tokens. If you can wills omeone refer me to where it says you can because I want more warpscrolls and warpstone amulets in my armies as well.
P.S. Farsight: he does have a ratling gun(skyre) but thats okay with me personally

Looking back on it, i should probably replace the harbingers' amulets with dispel scrolls and just keep them away from any danger as there spells don't require line of sight (heh heh heh :D ) As for two units of 2 plague swarms I am afraid to say I can not do this as this breaks the limit of special choices (two units of rat ogres).
Thank you for all the lovely compliments.

just one more thing, you cannot have 2 units of rat swarms or Plague rat swarms as they are 0-1 plus the warpstone amulet is a magic item the same as every other so i presume you can have two, just like 2 swords of battle for example which you can do (i think)

Hello again everyone. If you are interested, the November Issue of White Dwarf has a brand new Clan Moulder army list strait from the warhammer chronicals. I have already had a chance to read the artical and I have just two words "Holy Crap" (mind my profanity). It seems that Hell Pit has been rahter busy with the creation of new and even deadlier monstrosities. You should go and have a look.

BTW the Lustria rats and ogres, to my knowledge are just for the Bubonic court.

yep seen that one aswell ^_^ also i agree the hell pit army is dead good for skaen, without giving too much away it is basically a clan moulder list with extra bits, such as 3 types of rat ogres (with the possibility of more with upgrades- i think GW acctually listened when i said rules should be made for the warpfire arm  ) and 2 big beasties "mwahahaha" which look pretty good and are dead hard which is needed by skaven, im not going to even discuss the giant rats yet, it will ruin the surpirse.
the only problem is the high number of conversions needed  not good if you dont have a good bank balance and concentration level

What?! Is there a link or will I have to purchase this from WD? Moulder, have been neglected in skaven, every other clan has a legal list but moulder; pestilens (lustria), Eshin (SoC), Skryre (skaven army book  ) it's about time :) .

You can only ever have 1 copy of any magic item in an army list, even if the item is considered common (common just means that every army has an item of this description) unless otherwise specifically stated.
As such, three warpstone amulets are illegal.
LordChilipepa - October 24, 2005 05:26 PM (GMT)
Indeed. If I could have 4 Charms of the Jaguar Warrior... hell, who needs an army? Nike Oldblood, 3 Nike Scar-vets, 3 units of 10 naked skinks and I'm done. To hell with the rest of the points, I don't need anything else...

im not sure on that onbe myself, i know that you can take multiple dispel scrolls for example but i have seen battle reports for example where there have been 2 talismans of protection and stuff like that :( . you are probbally correct but i think its a stupid rule personally, why cant you take 2 warpstone amulets, its the warpstone pit, everyone down there probally has their own :P
Luc_Arkhame - October 25, 2005 02:11 PM (GMT)
Dispel Scrolls and Power Stones are exceptions that are stated specifically in the rules for each item.
Derek101 - October 25, 2005 02:16 PM (GMT)
God, more than one same magic item, I was young and foolish in my day; good times, though. ^_^
But yes I was under the same impression as farsight concerning common items (hence common) but I was surprised when I found out that you weren't allowed more than one enchanted shield, terrible shame. -_-
