Title: Help and Ol'Dawi

King Ulrik Flamebeard - April 4, 2005 04:36 PM (GMT)
Ok here's the thing, I've recently just finished painting my Asur( here, here and here ) and whenever them and my dawi are shown together most comment on how much better the Asur are. Now I may flirt with skirts and feathers occassionally but at heart I'm a stout dwarf and this news saddens me...

So I've decided I will repaint my current dwarf army, now this may not happen for a while (Going to conflict London in July) but I'd like to have an idea when I get round to it. At the moment the dwarfs are painting in the colours of Karak Hirn, nothing wrong with this colour scheme as the colours, brown, dark green and gold, all work well together. But it's GWs colours.

So with this in mind and a quick thought, I ask this;

What are your hold's colours? Do you have pics?

Hopefully the following posts will allow me to get an idea for the army. Ideally I'd like to stay away from red (after painting an entire Dragon Prince unit in it), so please my brother Dawi... show me what you got.

well I do a purple and cream because I'm also re-painting my army, but My idea is to have a large selection of all the colours you would like to use and pick 2.Its what i did with my dwarfs, but i did a poll.

If I hadn't picked the cream and purple,I would have done turquise and cream, yellow and blue or Green and cream.

EDIT:the asur are more likely to be considered a better paint job because the colour dosen't match the 'eavy metal paint job (people like variety) and becuse obviously the elves are painted to a higher standard.

Hint, yoou might want to wait a few months before you get repainting.

Why might I wait three months, Ras O' master of...umm..ahh...hmm.. well something I'm sure?

At the moment this is just to generate ideas, I'll be doing a bit of 40k painting first but once that's over then I'll return to the dwarfs for a while. Maybe build on my current collection, but as I said I've grown bored of the Karak Hirn colours.

Longer then three months old friend. Closer to a year most likely.

Ohh.. new plastics. Meh, still means I'd have to repaint my army. But the new ones sound lovely, I hope they have plastic thunderers.

if dwarfs get new plastics then even I might turn to the short ones ^_^

They will eventually, but chances are its happening in about 2-3 years, and IMO the Chaos dwarfs need doing after that.

BTW ulrik, any more tohught into your new colour scheme?

Hey KU, anything to help out a fellow Dawi. I took a few quick pictures of my pirate warriors. I hope the light is good enough to get an idea of the colours. I used black and scaly green, which has a lot of blue in it (turquoise). I'm not totally happy with the outcome as the black results in minis looking partley unpainted in my opinion, but the scaley green is the perfect colour for my up and coming pirate dwarf army.

In mine i use a mix of blue and red to make them like bretonnia. This army is a theme army. The dwarf lord and the king made a deal to protect the borders for a while..............................................................................................................
