I fought this battle this morning. It was: 2,000 pts of skaven vs 1,000 pts of dwarves and 1,000 pts of O&G. It was a minor victory in favor of the Dwarven/ orcish allience. Each new paragraph is a new turn.
The sun was just rising. The birds were melodically chirping. And in the air was the smell of war. The spears of the ratmen gleamed in the increasingly higher sun. The foul warpstone devices were being dragged to the battle lines. The four generals took their places amongst the troops. The assassin hid within his highly trained ehsin troops, while the two chieftains took places on the front lines. The engineer in a large formation of rocks, ready to jump out at any enemy. The leader of this foul army, a gray seer, was in the center front of the battle, ready to lead his troops on. These skaven were ready for war.
Across from them, ready to stop the invasion of the ratmen, lay an unusually alliance. In order to stop the Skaven from rising, the Dwarfs have teamed up with the Orcs. On the orc side, towards the left of the skaven force, Black Orcs pushed their way to the front of the battle lines while a man shaman prepared his spells for battle. Savage orcs also joined the battle, aware that the foul warpstone creatures were a significant threat.
The dwarfs prepared their battle lines as well. A large gun line of thunderers aimed at the horizon, ready for any beast to attack. Meanwhile, a group of slayers moved up to the front lines, eager to find a death by the hands of the most powerful skaven. Among them was a feared Dragon-Slayer.
The skaven made the first move. Their troops made their appetence charging down the grassland towards the enemies that stood in their way. The dual eshin squads made their way around the sides of the battle, ready to ambush their foes. As the troops approached, the two wizards blasted away their opponents with warp lighting, the engineer on the left orc side and the gray seer on the dwarves side. Orc and dwarf alike were burned alive by the fiendish spell. The artillery was equally as bad. Rattling guns mowed down troops on both sides. On the left a warp lightning cannon dedicated everything it could see, while on the right, jezzils shot their green bullets, sinking into the flesh of the dwarves. Suddenly, the warp lightning cannon lost control. It spun around and around, until it stopped pointing at the thunderers. It is best not to speak of what happened to a few, unfortunate thunderers.
On the opposite side of the battle, the alliance made their moves. The scouts of the orc army, the goblin wolf riders, rode out to meet the ehsin troops. The wolfs rode down the eshin troops, ripping the block of troops limb from limb. Meanwhile, the thunderers still pumped skaven full of bullets.
Finally the skaven body reached the enemy. Plague monks lead by a chieftain made a heroic charge on the black orcs. It seemed the plague monks were to be defeated, until the black orc boss meet the chieftain on the battlefield. Blade met blade, and the black orc fought for his life, but it seemed the ratman had one when he struck a deadly blow to the orcs chest. With one final attempt, the orc slashed out at the rat, only to the ratmans enchanted armor. First the blade, then the orc, crumbled from the effects of the warpstone armor. The chieftain was victorious, only to see his men retreating from the black orcs, he fled too, but in vain. In seconds, the unit was but smelly corpses. Meanwhile, the wizard kept up a steady stream of warp lightening.
Soon, the slayers clashed with a large block of clan rats, led by the second chieftain. In another dual, the chieftain became victorious. Hoping the dwarfs would crumble under their leaders defeat, he was suppressed that his enemies did not budge.
As the night goblins approached the battle, they let loose their deadliest weapon, the fanatics. Whirling around, the fanatics attempted to hit their opponents. All attempts were in vain, exempting the fanatic that collided with the warplock engineer. A fatal blow to the rat was dealt, and then he lived no more. Despite the skaven ferocity and technology, they were being forced back. At least on the left.
Only one unit of clanrats was left to face the orcish horde, as the warp lightning cannon had malfunctioned and exploded. On the dwarven front, the skaven where making progress. Many dwarves were dead, all that remained where the slayers and the mighty thunderers. But as if by the will of the old ones, the skaven began to fall back on both fronts. The gray seer just barley escaped the sights of a dwarven handgun. With the skaven forces in full retreat, the dwarves and orcs rejoiced.
The gray seer sat in hiding with the remained of his army. “All according to plan, all according to plan.” He whispered.
Nice batrep! Well done, Albino!
