I am no Dwarf player, but after havng a read of Gotrek's rules he is in no way representative of how he is in the 'Slayer' series.
I know this may be the same old argument of how a character is portrayed in the fluff but is MUCH more weaker in the game, but Gotrek's seems to be more unfair than usual.
In the 'Slayer' series he has single-handidly beaten hundreds of beastmen at once, a Lord of Chaos (Arek Deamonclaw who led the assault on Prag), a Vampire Lord (even after he magically changed into some huge b***ard), another Lord of Chaos, LOADS of monsters (mutant ogres, trolls, rat ogres etc), defended a fort against an ENTIRE orc army (how he lost his eye), helped greatly in the death of an uber-dragon...............and so on.
In a few of those he actually had a bit of help (other slayer buddies, Felix, wizard), but he still did the majority of the killing :fight: .
Unfair or what, huh? ;)
Every single dwarf player knows this. Its because,Gotrek is just too powerful to have "real" rules for.Its like nagash in 6th edition,he could just go "Bam! those 5 units and that bolt thrower are now dead and under my control".So thats why GW toned down gotrek, they didn't want a monster tearing up the battlefield did they?
True, True
But the rules seem especially weak though, perhaps 'another' special rule would help or simply increase his stats. Although this would inevitably see a points increase, so what ;)
Edit : woah, I just stumbled across the old rules for gotrek
Gotrek's axe = Hits wound on 2+. No armor saves allowed, except for magic armor, which gets -3 modifier. Each wound inflicts not 1 but D3 wounds (Dragons and Daemons =D6 Wounds).
Okay, now I can see why they changed him ;)
Yeah, nothing like his axe today. You would think that grimnir would have had a better weapon made than that......
