I was really excited about this game until I worked out a few things.

It has nearly the exact same rules as Warmaster: rules which I do not like (you can read them on the Warmaster living rulebook www.specialist-games.com).

Secondly, GW is only sending 400 copies of the boxed set to each region: so in the US there is a maximum of 400 people playing the game, in Australia there are 400 people etc. Good luck finding an opponent. There are even fewer of the blisters being sent out.

Third: I think there is only one scenario. Not sure about this, but it is what I've heard.

It has a massive advantage: the concept of a true 'battle in the box' game. However, it is unlikely to get much future GW support (how can they organise tourneys with so few players in the world).

If you're still interested, just wait.

I have no doubt they will produce more copies of the boxed game: the game clearly has potential and there is a lot of demand for this sort of game, but GW seems to be playing it safe by producing as few of the game as possible.

They may even be economically forced into making more, just to make it economically viable. They've gone through the development effort of creating rules for their game, made a bunch of (expensive) plastic sprues, paid for some new art, playtesting etc. and are only letting around 2,000 people play it?

Don't let me put you off the game completely, but I do recommend waiting for it's 'second coming', in which more people will play and GW will show some support.

To be honest, when I first saw it, my first thought was
"God, they look like warmaster"
I think that, as said above, if the rules are basically the same as warmaster, the models look the same as warmaster, just play warmaster! :P

to be fair have any of you played the game?
I have and i kid you not when i tell how good it is. Yes it may be based on the same rules for warmaster but this game is still excellent for starters you only need the stuff in the box, it even has a plastic hill!

Secondly i believe this game is great for tolkein fans rather then gamers, gamers just will play warmaster, but for those who enjoy tolkein and want to renact the books go for it.

I believe in regard to the number of games that due to the success of the number of BoFa sold more are being produced and it was 1000 copies rather then just 400 for the UK at least.
