Description: is it actualy possible?

I have been a skaven player for the last 3 years. Yet is it actually possible to powergame using SKAVEN? Cause i sierously doubt it. Can you all pls post a possible 2000pt Powergaming tournywinner armylist.

Low point games are really the skaven's shining moment. Under 2000 points, skaven easily outnumber everyone save a gobbo list, which they would crush. If you just field 53 point chieftains, then you have 3 strong combat characters, backed with plenty of rats. They slowly diminish with effectiveness as points increase, so it's hard to win against some armies past 2000 points, but I can still see a "Cheesy" list full of Ratling guns, warlocks, and a grey seer. And you'd still have points for plenty of cheap meat to go around.

aye, if you want a solid win in 2000 points that requires no skill or love of the game, field 3 blocks of CRs with rattlings, a Grey seer and 2-3 warlocks, 2 WLC's, swarms and globes and jezzails, and maybe (heaven forbid) some GR's for flanking...however, very little fun will be had if you play this army, as most of your opponents will cede after 2 turns and look for something more interesting to do...like staring into the sun. However for tourny's.....it depends on how much you wanna win.

Powergaming is more of a mindset than lists. It is possible to powergame with any race. You just have to play them 'right'. Powergaming does of course usually include tougher lists (like Gorod's), but usually have to do with manipulating the rules, and making the experience unpleasurable for your opponent. Skevan are not a race I typically associate with a powergamer, since they have a different feel. WE and Chaos are more likely powergamer races.

Try to put in your army the basics.I mean something to deal with the enemy cavalry eg.Put some clanrats, some bases of swarm with a bounch of globes and cencer beares. These models can take down the hardest enemy. :D

I really really doubt anyone ever entered a tourny that does not wanna win! You go to a tourny with that light in the end of the tunnel that you can win no matter how good you are in this game. Anyoen who says otherwise is speacking Bull. I never tried using a pure SAD army, but it does have some good destructive potential. Just some one pls try to explain to me WHATS WRONG WITH USING THE BEST TACTICS AND ARMLISTS? Power gaming is using special chartectes and the likes if you ask me but of course that is against the rules. If seen tourny armys with GREATER DEAMON & DEAMON PRINICE, if that aint your idea of powergaming i dunno what really is. A *&^$$ friend of mine sad itssssssssss power gamin having 14 jezails and 2 wlc - no sportsmanship points he said. If I want a true "powergaming" i might have 30 Jezails wich cost 600 pts equivalent to a unit of chosen knights. 30 jezails would maul anything that would be a danger to your clanrats and ratling guns, rank and file troops would then be dealt by wlc and ratlings and warp lightning

Hail all

What you need to ask yourself is, is this list fun for my opponent? Nevermind the fact that you could take it further if you wanted to, would you enjoy setting up across from an army that basically says 'if I roll reasonably well, you don't have a chance of winning'?

Honestly, I don't think many people come to the table with the intention of having the outcome decided entirely by the opponent's dice. If somebody set up across from me with 14 jezzails, 2 WLC and presumably at least 3 ratlings, I doubt I'd bother to play out the game. The fact that you could've had even more shooting doesn't make your current list any less of a pain to play against.

Yeah i get your point. But hey its the ways army are made, i mean everyone plays with what they have. What would you say about a DWARFEN shooting army, with like 3 g canons a mortar and hell lot of thunderers. Or an empire army. I belive that powergaming is an issue of the mind. I know that some armylists are a real pain to play against, but that doesnt mean they shouldnt be used. I accept the fact that in friendly matches people try to experiment and use "fun armylist" thats the way it should be, using such an army would be childish. But tourny wise i accept that people try to do their best and if that means using the best winning army list so be it. Its fair enough IMO. :thumb:

what i don't understand is why take that many jezzails? true you could say "it wins games" but i believe that you should think about an actual battle, one example you said would be the dwarves with 3 artillery pieces, now this is possible because they are dwarfs and they develop very powerful war machines to fire from afar (or close in some cases- organ gun). i would not say think about the army, would a skaven general have 14 jezzails and 2 WLC's because i certainly would not say so, part of the hobby is to enjoy the game and if you keep destroying the enemy with no challenge but hey do what you want

To be honest I wouldn't have to take any Jezzails in a strong list.

I would take 5 units of Clanrats with Ratling Guns and 5 Slave units and with Ikit Klaw and 2 Warlocks with a Power Stone and Dispel Scroll each.

8 levels of magic, lots of tarpit units, lots of ranks and well-protected shooting.

Points-wise it's close to 50% on shooting and 50% on horde CC. So I guess in a twisted way it's perfectly balanced

I can't believe you are asking this. The Skaven SAD army is the most famously cheesey army in the game. Such is proven by the division of players in tournaments. Those with the SAD place highly and those with fun list are generally not in the top 30%. They are completely un-fun to play against and very difficult to beat. A skaven player who has never heard of a SAD, well thats a first...
