Title: That TAU guy
Description: you know the one...
Angry Priest - February 27, 2005 08:14 PM (GMT)
This may be a little 'off topic', but it is still 40k relevent so I put it here.
So, that Tau guy.
EVERYONE must know their own little tau guy, you know the one, whether you know him (or her?) personally or you just hear them in the background.
Let me explain myself, the Tau guy I know big-mouths how much his rail-guns and plasma do-hickeys are going to blast your forces, and complains SO MUCH when you assault him.
I have nothing against tau players (I myself have a SMALL force ;) ), but everyone must know one guy who is a total 'Tau Guy'.
Use this thread as a place to vent your pent up aggression for that whiny Tau player that you know, you hate playing against, hang out with or (God forbid) live with.
If no-one knows what I am on about, just ignore
Regards

I am a Tau guy, however I don't whine when I get assaulted. Tau have to compensate for their amazing shooting ability somewhere and that somewhere is assault. I often don't get my fire warriors assaulted because of my precious kroot though.

i am a tau person and i do not complain when i get assaulted it is just part of the game the game has to end some time either by long rang or cc. it don't matter to me as long as i try to win

I am a tau guy. I've only complained once about tau-related topics. 400 pt (somthing like that) game. I have 2x12 fire warriors, 1 battle suit. My dark eldar freind: like, 5 dark eldar melee guys that can run REALLY FAST. In about 3 turns. I have a suit with 1 wound left, and 1 unit of 7 fire warriors. Needless to say he won and i cried cheese till my lunges colapsed.

I think people here are confusing "Tau Guy" with "Tau Player". From what I can gather, a "Tau Guy" is a moaning, cocky, annoying kid who thinks you're cheating if you beat him. Not every "Tau Player" is a "Tau Guy".
I, however, know a "Tau Guy". If you get into combat with him, one of a few things has occured (according to him):
(1) You're cheating, and there must be something wrong with your army list. He checks it for about five minutes, finds nothing wrong, then has a tantrum, gives up and goes home.
(2) You're lucky. He'll moan for the rest of the game.
(3) He's unlucky. See above.
So yes, I know a "Tau Guy".

I had the displeasure of playing a 'Tau Guy' in a Tournament. He deployed slowly, then played really slowly.
The effect was that after 2 turns, time was up. Victory points calculated and he got a small victory. The result after 2 more turns would have been very different!
Of course, starting Turn 3 my Chaplain and a supporting squad were about to get in a charge, with a dreadnought on the way. His only Kroot squad was destroyed by my shooting. All that was now to do was the summary lines roll-up...
To add insult to injury, he had the gall to mark my list down because it had 2 battle squads in it (dont mind the rest of the troop squads were full) and none of his troop squads were full. This along with being a typical Chipmunk - being all nice to get Sportsmanship points while marking his opponent (me in this case) down!
The only other Tau player I have had to play was another 'Tau Guy', who only selected and bought the army for the shooting power. This particular occaision I was playing Nids at the time, and when we rolled Ambush, he actually nearly cried!!! So after a lot of complaining he convinced me to play Cleanse and he took the side with cover, and forced me to move through difficult terrain that he assured me his club (I was always just a visitor) had a ruling that said gave no cover... After he won the game - of course - he cheered and told other members around how awesome his gameplay was!!!
So my thoughts? An army that is a misfit in the Gothic genre of the game, developed to cash in on the anime fad, and to lead the Asian market push, has constantly been supported by my continued bad experiences with its players!!! I look forward to the day when all you great players of Tau, try Imperial Guard (or some other shooty army) and we can watch this hiccup in the 40K storyline go the way of the nolonger supported Squats and/or Chaos Dwarves (fantasy).

as annoying as the players of armys can be, the Tau dont deserve to be booted out of 40k just because a few players who use them are a pain in the butt, look at space marines, how many SM armies (i include the mini dex armies in this) have been seen in a simialr crappy play style by both young and old players.
I stand by my thoughts that its the gamer thay is the problem not the army.
it should be noted i despise tau with a pure hatred that would make the Inqusition pround, but i still feel they belong so i can hate them, stupid stinkin' blue skins...

to be totally honest now i think about i dont mind the kind of tau player you are on about but what i really hate is when they play throughout the game getting shot up and think okay ill have my fun when i reach close combat and when you do and kill a single fire warrior/ battlesuit etc, they give up!! :o it's just like a bit one- sided and really boring to play against
still good for them i say <_<

i myself am a tau player and i luv gettin the * kicked outta me in assault, just as long as i killed a couple of modles or units in their advance cuz its all part of the gameonce i got desroyed by a 1500 froce (chaos) when i fielded 2500 of tau, it was alot of fun. I like getting assaulted cuz theres always that 1 last firewarrior who the chaplain just cant seem to kill, and i laugh at that, even if hes my last firewarrior. And about 1.5 weeks ago i faced a tzeentch army in combat patrol. i used 9 armor piercing drone snipers an ethereal and honor gaurd. I dropped him in 15 minutes. He was laughing harder than i was. anyway thats it. If u know of a "tau guy" tell him i said hes a disgrace to the greater good.
