Launcelot pappillion - February 24, 2005 07:13 PM (GMT)
I will enter Deklus the Wight Lord.
The weather was hot, and the sky blue. Outside the palace people was gathered, ready to hear the weekly anouncements which the herald would read aloud.
Deklus was inside the mob, waiting eagerly to hear if the rumours were true, at his side a halfling, no taller than a meter, stood and waited for the exact same thing.
These two had meed two days ago, at the local in, both were mercenaries looking for great adventures with great payment.
"We are all gathered here today" the herald said
"to hear what the future will bring to us"
And with that he continued his speech, with telling what events the forthcoming week would bring, no one in the crowd really listened to it, for they knew all of it on forehand. This little speech lasted for 10 minutes, and was ended with a
"and so we continue to the tournaments and arena anouncements:"
the crowd fell silent, the herald had finally reached what they were waiting for
"As the word has spread, have the mighty wizard Mordenkain, decided to host a
contest for the bravest of adventures, and the mightiest of warriors, he has
therefor decided to call the contest ´Death inside the mountain´, and as the title
suggest, will all participants (and there will be 40 of them) be put into the
mountain, and inside that mountain will there be deadly traps and huge
monsters.... and of course treasures!"
The last word was followed by a lot of talk inside the mob.....
"you can all sign op for this contest at the tables behind me, and we will chose
the best 40 men, and they will be send into the mountain...
one group, and only one, can win the contest all other will die down there"
Some people left the place, for them it was ridicules to but their life on stake, but the halfling and her human friend stood firm, for them the dream of treasures and glory made up for the risk
"the winner will then be rewarded with one million, yes I said one million gold
coins..."
some of the people who was on their way home stopped, one million was a lot of money....
"and all who doesn't participate will get the chance to see it all live, through a big
magic mirror we will set up right here, yes you can for a little sum see it all
live!!!"
and with that, the mob started to split, with the eager adventures going one way, to sign up for the contest, and the rest going home to their own buisness
---------------------
Deklus was one of the lucky persons who got chosen, and when the day came, and the contest started, he was readying himself inside his house, not knowing that a diety was interested in his doings.
and as Yuan-ti was about to leave his house, the god, in a ghostly shape, appeared before the startlet adventure
"You, my child, will win this contest and kill all other participaters on your way inside the mountain, and to help you with that I will give you this sword"'
the ghost stretched its hand out, and a crystal blue sword appeared.
Deklus not understanding the dark powers in the sword, took it from the ghost, and from that moment he turned into what he is now...: nothing less than an avatar of his diety.
-----------------------
to no one's surprise was Deklus the winner of the contest, and now he strives to strike fear into the heart of men, bu winning as many arenas as possible...
therefor he submitted to this one...
---------------------------------
Deklus is a chosen of a new GOD called RHARGY
He will win this pityfull contest to show his might therefor has he given his champion this unique sword!
This GOD stand for one thing SARCASM!
well it doesnt sound frightning but his sword surely is!
Deklus himself is 2 meters high, walk in a long black robe dragging the end of it behind him. his eyes is covered behind some kind of black fog which seems to cover parts of his face. his blue sword, is a symbol of his might, and anyone who dares to look upon it will face death itself (and if you are undead then you will see life in a blooming spring day!

Total Cost: 241 points
Summary of effects: 5 WS7 I7 S5 attacks that confer an additional -1 to people's armour saves, an extra WS3 I3 S4 attack due to spiky impalement on his armour, a 1+ save, a random ward save, and all enemy magical weapons are negated and treated instead as non-magical variants of their type (usually hand weapons unless the description says otherwise).
Sarevok is a strange warrior whose purpose for being in the old world is unknown. He is clearly insane, believing himself to be the child of a "dead god" known as
Bhaal." Apparently, he had plans for assuming said god's portfolio, but was thwarted by meddlesome heroes, and somehow ended up here. Or something like that. Regardless, his apparent madness seems to be a boon to his already formidable combat abilities: for one thing, he seems completely immune to magic (as a final boss just wouldn't be challenging if you could just burn all your scrolls of cloudkill and wipe him out without even reading the pre-fight dialogue), and incredibly hard to kill (probably in large part due to the fact that he is a tooled up level 15 fighter reaving his way through your poor, sad little party of level 7's, but also largely thanks to his disregard for his own pain, and his total contempt for the enemies that cause it).
He wears black, spiky armour, and fights with a massive greatsword, which he wields one-handed. This has led to many believing that he is a chaos warrior of some sort, a distinction which is so close to the truth that he doesn't care to deny it.

The Black Knight (Bretonnian Lord)- 110 pts-
M:4
WS:6
S:4
T:4
W:3
I:6
A:4
Ld:9
Great Sword- The Black Knight wields a great two-handed sword, with which he chops up his enemies ruthlessly. When not fighting, he uses it as a back-scratcher, fly-swatter, kitchen knife, shovel and spoon (though how he actually uses it as a spoon is anyone’s guess) (+2 strength, strikes last) - 6 pts
”‘Tis But a Flesh Wound!” (Gilded Cuirass, Mantle of Damsel Elena and The Lady‘s Blessing)- It is rumoured that the Black Knight is totally insensitive to pain. Stories tell of the Black Knight suffering the most grievous of injuries and yet still fighting on as though nothing had happened, taunting his foes mercilessly all the while. One story even tells that the Black Knight once had all of his limbs cut off and was eviscerated, and yet lived on, hurling insults at his foe with relish and roaring accusations of cowardice at him as he galloped away victoriously. Some say that the Black Knight is able to take such injuries because of sheer stubbornness (or possibly stupidity, or both)-- he will never accept defeat, even if he is too badly injured to possibly triumph. Others whisper that the Black Knight bears some dark curse that allows him to feel no pain. Others say that he fights on through simply because he is too insane to register the fact that he is hurt. Others, however, suggest that the Black Knight is immortal, and hence cannot be killed -- indeed, there are some who claim that even decapitation cannot kill him! (5+ armour save, Regenerates, immune to Killing Blow and Poison, 6+ ward save, 5+ ward save vs. strength 5 or higher)- 75 pts
Barded Steed- Honestly, what knight worth his salt would deign to fight on foot? Even an insane warrior like the Black Knight has the sense to have a warhorse handy. (+2 to armour save)- 24 pts
”Fight Me, You Pansy!” (Questing Vow, Virtue of Confidence)- The Black Knight never runs from a good fight. In fact, whenever he sees a foe worth fighting or a monster worth slaying, he’ll charge forward recklessly, hurling insults as he does so. (Immune to Panic, may reroll one failed ‘to wound‘ roll each round of combat)- 37 pts
Total: 246
Summary: 4 strength 6 attacks, striking last & rer-rolling 1 failed to wound roll each turn; 3+ armour save; 6+ ward save (5+ vs. strength 5 or higher); Regenerates; Immune to Killing Blow and Poison
Description: The Black Knight is clad in heavy black armour similar to that worn by Bretonnian knights. He always has his visor lowered, obscuring his face and giving him a sinister air.
Fluff: The Black Knight originally came from another universe (the universe of Monty Python’s Quest for the Holy Grail to be exact. He was minding his business one day when an interdimensional portal suddenly opened up and swallowed him. He found himself in a strange jungle realm, with no peasants to pick on whatsoever. Disappointed, the Black Knight decided to enter into a local tournament, reckoning that killing a few rival warriors would make him feel better . . . .
Note: The Black Knight CANNOT BE KILLED. In case you haven’t seen The Quest for the Holy Grail, he will fight on even if he takes wounds that would kill a normal being outright. Even if decapitated, his severed head will continue to hurl insults at his foe. However, just because he can’t die doesn’t mean he can’t lose -- like in the movie, he will be beaten when he is rendered physically incapable of fighting back (ie. Loses all of his limbs, or something similar).

You have 2 shields on your character elvesofchrace
Spire - February 28, 2005 09:30 AM (GMT)
Elvesofchance your character is illegal as he has three magic armours two of which are shields.
Also his magic weapon is Foe Bane not The Sword of Hoeth.
elvesofchrace - March 1, 2005 01:16 AM (GMT)
sorry for the mix up everyone. yes it is foe bane, i was looking at sword of Hoeth and got distracted. new character. same stas as before but with different equipment. Helm of Fortune with Dragon armor and shield on barded horse. change Foe Bane to Sword of Hoeth.
so it is a 1+ rerollable save and wounds automatically on all hits with saves modified by his strength. since the helm is a helmet, i'm assuming that's alright. if not, drop the shield and make it a 2+ rerollable
247 pts.

Hmm... 6 entrants in nine days; not as many as I was hoping for. Looks like I might have to limit it to 8 participents unless interest in this arena increases soon.
Launcelot pappillion - March 8, 2005 11:43 AM (GMT)
I don't want to rip this site from future arenas, but if you really want to make an arena with 16 participants, then try this site out, it is a site dedicated to the art of arenas:
http://p070.ezboard.com/fthearenaofrezephuafrm7use it or not.
Swordsalot - March 8, 2005 02:30 PM (GMT)
Yeah, what he said: I have no trouble getting 16 people to join an AoD over there.
Shaargor - March 8, 2005 02:51 PM (GMT)
Yea, I have an account there, but it's ezboard and it keeps telling me that my password is wrong. I can now log in as one of my 3 accounts, but the name is not what I want, so I just don't go there, simple.
I'll join this arena soon enough. By the way, go for 8 people, that can be got.
Spire - March 8, 2005 03:08 PM (GMT)
I'm already a member there, there I just thought wasn't enough free space on the board for this arena when i started it.
Anyway i've decided to follow your advice and limit it to 8 competetors so now we only need 2 more characters.
elvesofchrace - March 9, 2005 12:23 AM (GMT)
if you're really desperate you could add 2
Shaargor - March 9, 2005 07:48 AM (GMT)
I don't think we're going to need to do that. Anyway it would take the point out of arenas.
Spire - March 19, 2005 08:27 AM (GMT)
If anybody who hasn't entered yet is reading this topic I would REALLY apreciate it if they would enter a character as we only need 2 more to begin.

The city of Ux-mal was once a great and powerful city, ruled over by the wise and ancient Slann Lord Xlantec. However, during the great calamity that saw the birth of Chaos, Ux-mal was beset upon by countless daemons. With his last amount of strength, Lord Xlantec placed a great protective spell over the city, warding it from the daemons, but placing its denizens under millennia of hibernation in the process.
Over the many millennia that followed, a select group of Skinks, lead by the priest Tlacepotl, watched over Ux-mal and its sleeping inhabitants. However, with the renewed rise of Chaos, the time has come for the spell to be lifted and for Ux-mal's cohorts to march to war once again.
Ara-kor was the first of the Saurus that the Skinks revived. A great hero of the city, Ara-kor has forgotten most of his previous life, but nonetheless aids the Skinks in their quest to retrieve the shards of the Eyes of Sotek -- six arcane objects of great power that, once reassembled, will be able to lift the curse and revive Lord Xlantec once more.

Errrrr......NO.
I'm not terrified of "uber chaos characters", just if they faced Gor###### he'd be a gonna! Trust me that's happened.
I challenge who ever the Albino Rats character is, I wanted to from the start, just got the wrong name.
Aesgareth - March 25, 2005 09:31 AM (GMT)
So in other words, you're afraid of facing chaos characters because you think that it is impossible to win against them. Which is exactly what I was implying
However, I would like to re-issue the challenge, as well as bring your attention to the fact that Albino has already issued a challenge and that it has been summarily accepted.
Shaargor - March 25, 2005 10:21 AM (GMT)
No just if Gor###### came up against a runeshield or the daemon blade he'd be toast, and a lot of chaos characters have one of those.
As for your re-issued challenge, I quote:
I'm sorry, just the runeshield bring up really bad memories from the inter-site league.
Anyway, I challenge Deklus the Wight Lord (Launcelot Pappillion's character).
