Title: Skaven Plague Lord
Description: New model
Goblit Skullhelm - January 28, 2005 05:14 PM (GMT)
I found this picture of the new Skaven Plague Lord (presumably for Rise of Sotek) on the GW site. Enjoy!
Skaven Plague Lord piccyIf the new Plague Monks look this good (and they're plastic) then I could be starting a Pestilens army...

He doesn't look all that plaguey. I'd like him more if he had weeping sores and missing eyes and the like.
I might just use him as a warlord.

Now, this is why I play warhammer. That is so sweet, I definatley think I will get him and do a small bit of converting for showcase.

I don't like it, the pose is poor, the sculpting doesn't look great and its meant to be pestillense? I don't think so. Its a warlord, just not as good as the very kool current one.
Goblit Skullhelm - January 29, 2005 11:03 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I suppose it could be a bit more Pestilens-y. It has the rusty old weapons, but then all skaven weapons are like that really.
Nonetheless, it is a cool model, even if it isn't plaguey enough.
Maybe the other side of the model's got plaguey bits?

I'm not entirely sure. The fur does look a bit 'manky' but the model does not respresent what clan pestilence should look like, nor does he look very frenzied. I quite like the pose, he is lumbering over his enemies with an evil look in his eye knowing what will happened to those who are not the children of the horned one. I think I will still keep to my 5th edition Stormvermin Champion as my warlord thank you very much and Skroll as my Plauge Priest.

You have to bear in mind that if it's a Rise of Sotek Plague Lord, that's the infancy of Pestilens - I think the clan had only just started worshipping disease as the incarnation of the Horned Rat and making it their "theme" when they were expelled from the Old World and made it to Lustria. The development of the whole "monks of plague" thing would have come about much later, with the integration of Pestilens into mainstream Skaven society and the granting of religious authority as well as power to the clan. So they would look a lot more similar to the Warlord Clans when they were fighting the war of the Serpent and the Rat.
As a model, I think it's cool.

Agreed this is only the start of Clan Pestilens but it needs to look like he has begun rotting a little, maybe some white or patchy fur. Think about it. :thumb:

I agree it only was the begining really of the clan when they attacked the lizzies.
Cool model and the painting is great B)

As a plaguelord I can't say I truly like he model, even given Chilli's insight. I do however, moderately like the model. I just think that he is way too bulky, and not nrealy savage/ravaged enough. Defintealy not frenzied :)
I also think a better pain job on this would go a lon way though :D

Indeed,
This particular Skaven does look a bit 'meaty', and not nearly as quick or nimble as his other Skaven brothers.
Also, is he going for a 'tortoise' fashion for i see a possible shield on his back, not very Skaveny at all. Then again this is a sneak peak, and is just that, a peek.
A great model none the less

Angry Priest

I agree that it isn't plaugy enough. But even painting the cloth on the model green would have made him more pestilece like. Why they went with brown though i don't know... Its a good regular model though.

i would probally use the model as a chieftain in my regular warlord clan, but i suppose when you hear "plague lord" you naturally expect a model with pus dripping from their eyes and flies buzzing around them, or along thoe lines ;)
Steve The Rash - March 3, 2005 10:18 PM (GMT)
I agree he is to poor and he doesn't look like with pestilens he is like a gor. ;)
