Title: Chili's Blood Bowl Team
Description: The next logical step from arenas...

LordChilipepa - December 29, 2004 05:54 PM (GMT)
Anyway, a few weeks ago I got the old "look through the old games" urge and have now dusted off and revitalised my old Blood Bowl team, "Morkar's Man-Manglers."

This thread will serve two purposes: to let people see how cool the team is  and to find out if there's anyone in my area (I live in Wimbledon and my nearest GW is Kingston-on-Thames) who plays the beautiful game :P

Anyway, here is my team:

Head Coach: Morkar the Mighty, Favoured of the Changer and Smiter of Cheerleaders.
Morkar was the warlord of a horde of Chaos Warriors that descended upon the Dwarves of the World's Edge Mountains in their northern holds, and, thanks to his inept generalship, was completely slaughtered over the course of a few battles. Storming off in a huff after his dragon "Spike" was shot out from under him, he was offered one last chance at glory - converting from his Undivided, polytheistic ways to the glorious worship of Tzeentch, he became a Blood Bowl Coach. Outfitted with several wagon-loads of fairy gold with which to set up the team, he gathered what Chaos Knights remained and struck out into the Empire's heart, recruiting through the Drakwald for promising players. Now he runs the Man-Manglers with more success than he ever had on the battlefield, pursuing his last chance to avoid spawndom with great determination. He is a tad angry, having bottled up a lot of shameful rage during the several arse-kickings dealt to him by the dwarves, hence the last part of his title, as they are quite easy to take out pent-up fury on, especially when they provoke you with their nasal, whining chants. To this end, Morkar carries a gigantic axe, and sharpens it before every game (anyone seen the Warhammer Quest Chaos Warrior? That's Morkar... :thumb:)

Cool. But why's he called "the Smiter of Cheerleaders?" You never mentioned any cheerleader-smiting in his fluff (unless you mean Dwarf cheerleaders).

I'm actually considering taking up Blood Bowl, so once I learn how to play I should be able to give you a game Chili. Are the rules a lot more complicated than "the core games"? Not that it matters to one with such a high intellect as me, of course... ;)

It's pretty easy to learn. The rules are simpler than the "core games", and it's faster-paced as well. I enjoy it a lot myself - some of the dirty trick cards are hilarious ("Exploding Player" - you have sneakily substituted one of your line-up for a dummy packed with explosives, and when the opposition tackle him the result is predictable...). If you do start, please do let me know - the league rules specify that you shouldn't really play the same team twice in a row, which means me and RasputinII need to find/scrounge more players - the only one I could find at our local GW played with an "Old World" team which he assured me was in a journal, made up pretty much entirely of substituted, unpainted models and so advanced that I didn't stand a chance.

Sounds cool. I'm reading through the Living Rulebook on the BB site at the moment (free rules!).

P.S. Exploding player!

Looks good. I quite like blood bowl but unfortunatley my areas are normally mordheim and warmaster.

Good team.

I recommend www.pbembbl.org if you're short on league opponents. You'd have to learn the latest ruleset (Living rule book, note that the dirty tricks cards aren't in this version of the rules), but they're a good set of rules anyway.

Could somebody fill me in on just what you need to accomplish in Blood Bowl? And if possible some sample rules or examples?
