Title: A army list
Prince Cal - December 14, 2004 05:25 PM (GMT)
Heroes
Hunter - 2 sabretusks, harpoon crossbow = 185
Core
3 Bulls = 105
3 Bulls = 105
3 Bulls = 105
4 ironguts: Gw, Ha, Fc: 248
6 Gnoblar Trappers = 36
Special
3 Yhetees = 215
998
The hunter is there because he can support the ogres and shoot at single models. The bulls are there to add some punch and flanking power. The iron guts are my main unit with the yhetees adding some support. The gnoblar trappers, well I have started to convert myself some from old 40k grots.

I'm liking it ^_^ :P
though I think a bruiser might be a better hero for the list ATM.

The idea is he adds support were needed. Otherwise I would put a bruiser in the ironguts and I am not mad about putting a character in a unit like that at this many points. Anyway, he has enough unit strength on his own to take out ranks with his supporting sabertusks.
Garagrim, love the idea but at 1k, not worth it as I have so little shooting it is not worth it.

Sorry, hunters and butchers can never be the army general, so you'll have to take a bruiser.
Your yhetees are only 195pts unless you're including a greyback.
Other than that it seems like a good list although I think the ironguts will be too much of a missile target if they are bigger than the bull units.
Just my two pennyeth,

Oh well, a cheap bruiser it is and I will then bulk out a bull unit to 5 and add a small unit of gnoblars. I will also drop the greyback I think.

Noooooooooooooooooooooo! Leave the gnoblars at home!
Sorry, had to get that off my chest. Trappers are useful because they skirmish/scout, but gnoblar fighters are just plain useless IMHO. They are a 2pt ranked unit like gobbos, but unlike gobbos they get no spears, shields or standards. They get sharp stuff (kinda like slings), but they can only fire them in one rank, making a ranked unit pretty lame at shooting and combat.

Another evil Gnoblar hater! Just cos you ogres get multiple wounds! :P
You forget that Gnoblars make up what ogres seriously lack, numbers. They are basically the Ogre equivilent of snotlings...a meat shield. I wouldnt go with 24 though, but 48 for less than 100 points...who knows, they might even win a combat with that :D
Goblit Skullhelm - December 14, 2004 07:16 PM (GMT)
Hmm, maybe a gnoblar unit in combat at the same time as the ogres might be useful (adding ranks to the ogres' combat res) but they have M4, whereas ogres are M6. Unless you slow the ogres down, losing one of their main advantages, they are rarely going to be in the same combat at the same time.

What I would do is plonk 2 units of 24 in front of them and march them up to the enemy and allow by ogres to pick combats, good against khorne and fun to convert. Might take more ogres though. Quick and easy to paint.
