Title: D&D
Launcelot pappillion - December 9, 2004 07:49 PM (GMT)
I am quite curius, how many of you play D&D (dungeons and dragons)
for those of you who don't know it, its a roleplaying game, intended on making an epic storyline where the players become either a great warrior a great cleric a great thief a great wizards and so on.... but they start from the bottom making their way to glorius victories which in the end will make them one of the champions in the world OR one of the villians, or just a dead body!...
The Albino Rat - December 9, 2004 10:10 PM (GMT)
I play. Im in the fourm that you post in. (im babemag there) I've been playing for about 4 or 5 years.
Tsunami - December 10, 2004 02:46 PM (GMT)
I play. Got my own forum actually, just needs a few steady posters. But I've played it for almost 2 years now.
dikjimgin - December 10, 2004 03:32 PM (GMT)
i've been playing for about 14 years. i feel old
The_Eye - December 10, 2004 06:34 PM (GMT)
I also play it, not often, but in holiday time
Dreg - December 11, 2004 10:27 PM (GMT)
I have played DaD for years and think its an awsome game.
The Albino Rat - December 12, 2004 05:07 AM (GMT)
tsunami could i have the adress to your site? Im in one too check my sig for the adress.
Aesgareth - December 12, 2004 05:21 AM (GMT)
D&D is very powergamey. Psions and monks are evil.
But when all's said and done, it's still a fun game.
Benedictus - December 12, 2004 06:08 AM (GMT)
I've been playing for years. With a group that prefers combat and destruction to role-play, it's not very enjoyable. Particularly when you're playing a swashbuckler in a party that includes a Minotaur barbarian. :(
However, in a group that favours role-play over other considerations, this game is a lot of fun.
Tsunami - December 12, 2004 09:19 AM (GMT)
I believe that D&D can be fun in the hands of a nice group (and a good DM ;) ). I for one won't want a Psion in my group, let alone a Minotaur barbarian. Still, the large range of options is what makes D&D so much better than a computer RPG.
@XxSKAVENxX:
hereIt's a little down at the moment, but I'm getting two campaign of the ground pretty soon.
Launcelot pappillion - December 12, 2004 10:22 AM (GMT)
I will defenatly join your site, when I find time...
good to see all these d&D players here!! maybe we should make a campaign someday... anyone who think thats a good idea?? (we could do it ontsunamis site maybe??)
Tsunami - December 13, 2004 04:35 PM (GMT)
I'd like to play a campaign, great idea! I'm game.
Aesgareth - December 13, 2004 07:16 PM (GMT)
Why no psions? Just because it can kill a dragon with a single power...
Launcelot pappillion - December 13, 2004 07:57 PM (GMT)
hmm I take Wizards over psions every day! they are so much more fun to play! just look at Raistlin Majere from Dragonlance!!
well you got a point that they are powerfull, but when I search for a character class to play, I look for which kind of person I can create and not how powerfull he can become (ok I admit that is the next thing I look after ;))
do you want to join a game on tsunamis site??

Not only that, but you have to revise all the magic item charts and whatnot to include the possibility of psionic items, plus you have to have psionic encounters so their powers aren't wasted, plus...
Yeah, I don't like Psions either. Been a while since I played, actually. My group kinda drifted apart when one of our players started insisting that it wouldn't work, and used that as justification to avoid trying to make it work...
Benedictus - December 13, 2004 10:00 PM (GMT)
Psions aren't so bad. So long as you don't have a group of power-gaming players. If the players are more interested in role-play over killy-death, game balance is fairly irrelevant.
I refuse to play with anyone who cares more about killy-death than role-play.

In the game where I'm in now, I'm a minotaur barbarian, but with a lot of roleplay, roleplaying is with a good DM a lot more fun than batteling I think...
Benedictus - December 18, 2004 03:10 AM (GMT)
The group I was referring to was a power-gaming 2nd edition group. Minotaur barbarians are fun in a group that relies more on RP than on killing stuff.
The Albino Rat - December 20, 2004 02:53 AM (GMT)
I had a group of good freinds who played. It was funny. There were the 5 people who were with the game the whole time, and the 6th person was different almost every session, cause the new guy never liked it and we invited someone else. It was kind of funny. But sadly the only good roleplayers was me (but i was the dm), my freind blake (lol he played a blind dwarf cleric), and, well kind of my sis (she played a female orcish barbarian with and intelegence of 3 and ate other players. She WAS playing her charicter but still...) The group broke up because of the roleplaying part and some other issues that my freinds were going through...
Tsunami - December 28, 2004 01:34 PM (GMT)
I'm a little confused, are we going to start a D&D campaign? If we are I'd rather not DM as I'm a little busy at the moment, I'l let someone with more experience DM  .
Launcelot pappillion - December 28, 2004 03:29 PM (GMT)
I can make one in the roleplaying forum here on palace site...
but only if four to six persons want to join up (post if you want here...)
the setting will be a normal d&d one, with dungeons and so on... please post if you want to participate...
Tsunami - December 28, 2004 03:38 PM (GMT)
I'm game. And my site is at your disposal (I could use the members ;) ) if you think that the Inner Realm is a better place to have the RPG.
Launcelot pappillion - December 28, 2004 06:03 PM (GMT)
ok I will choose when I get the members to host a roleplay...
I don't know how many will read this, so I put it on my sign...
Kroq-Gar - April 30, 2005 08:25 PM (GMT)
I agree with Vrishnak on Psion and in our D&D campaign they aren't allowed at all....
Xarhain - April 30, 2005 08:59 PM (GMT)
Wow. That's possibly the biggest bit of necromancy I have ever seen.
And no, I'm not going to report it. I'm going to sit here, point and laugh.
Think I'll get a warning?
Goblit Skullhelm - April 30, 2005 10:08 PM (GMT)
Luc_Arkhame - May 1, 2005 02:59 PM (GMT)
Well Xarhain, I could warn you, but that would be blatant abuse of my god-like powers, since nobody really cares if you are pointing and laughing at necromancy, or if you are raising old threads to begin with.
Grimgor Ironhide - May 26, 2005 12:28 AM (GMT)
so uh.....does anyone have a D&D campaign they want to launch that maybe I could join? I haven't played in a while and I'm itching with desire ....
Aesgareth - May 26, 2005 04:13 PM (GMT)
Funny, but your post gave me a bit of an idea for a campaign that I'm gonna try to run. Something about necromancers
The Albino Rat - May 31, 2005 09:35 PM (GMT)
we should acually start one. So, i guess post here if you are interested.

it could be fun, if we can make it work..
The Albino Rat - June 12, 2005 09:24 PM (GMT)
ok, i'll dm unless anyone else wants to, ill go make a charicter regestration thread now.
Launcelot pappillion - June 13, 2005 05:42 AM (GMT)
ill join before the week is over...
Grimgor Ironhide - June 16, 2005 08:55 PM (GMT)
where is this thread? I'd really like to join, I haven't played D&D in a while but I read the new 3.5 edition stuff and the like. I also haven't played an RPG in a while, I always DM.
