Title: Who plays Warmachine?
Description: Have some questions

Stinkoman - November 28, 2004 02:19 AM (GMT)
I cam across this game when I was searching the net

Questions

1. How many people play it besides Warhammer, 40K etc etc

2. Is it fun to play

3. Is it hard to paint the figs

4. Are the Protecte of Men-something good?

The_Eye - December 5, 2004 03:34 PM (GMT)
what IS warmachine?

Haldir - December 7, 2004 04:31 PM (GMT)
Thats a VERY good question Garagrim-The-War-Wourner........ <_<

Launcelot pappillion - December 9, 2004 07:44 PM (GMT)
sorry to say this, but this post is just (EDIT) Open ended....

You havn't told us WHAT it is your talking about, other than the word "warmachines" and that won't help a lot...

Then there is the thing that you don't answer our questions, thats not good either... hmm well I think i have explained myself...

Goblit Skullhelm - December 9, 2004 07:53 PM (GMT)
This post is NOT ridiculous. Warmachine is a wargame not unlike those produced by GW. If you don't play it (which I don't, BTW), it doesn't mean the whole post is ridiculous. It's not Stinkoman's responsibility to explain to you want it's about, he was just wondering if there was anyone who played it who could answer some of his questions.

I don't play High Elves - does that mean that they're ridiculous?

No High Elves rock!

You are right: the questions are not ridiculous, though a little explonation would be cool. Maybe Stinkoman could give us a weblink?

Goblit Skullhelm - December 10, 2004 05:02 PM (GMT)
Just found this on a Google search, I'm pretty sure this is the game he means. Then again, there are a lot of online games called Warmachine...

I read everything in gblit's link, and it sounds fun to play ^_^

Launcelot pappillion - December 10, 2004 07:07 PM (GMT)
yeah, I read the link too...

And just want to say sorry to stinkoman (if he ever will read this, considering that he has never answered questions on this thread....) your post was not "ridicules" and it was a wrong word to use... guess I should have used the words "open ended" instead ;)

(btw I don't think high elves are ridicules just pretty "open ended") ;) just kidding they ok.... ;)

Warmachine and the imfamous page 5 (play like you got a pair)...

Its a fast paced war game set in a steam punk universe where Magic weilding warcasters control semi sentient steam powered robotic warriors called Warjacks in a fight over the Iron Kingdoms. Its highly agressive and things tend to get smashed left right and centre with all of the war casters being able to pull of a Uber move once per game and do some silly damage or knock everyone flat or some other nasty bit of magic induced death.

WARMACHINE: PLAY LIKE YOU GOT A PAIR

The models are good and you get the quickstart rules in the boxed set which gives you nomrally 2-3 jacks and a warcaster to get you going. Later additions such as the Escalation rulebook add more troop based units and new casters to the game.

Big steam powered robots killing each other, who aint gonna like that.

Yes i do play it from time to time, yes i think its fun.

I saw a game, and it looks shabba fantastic. The models are awsome and from what I could make out the rules looks very good. I might get into it myself, now I have a link. Really GWs models look like turd in comparison. We are talking Rackham quality stuff!

Just got to find some one else who wants to play and then get a rule book.

EDIT: On the site whomes link is kindly provided by Typhereon there is a downloadable condensed set of rules, a taster if you like, as well as the cards for a basic "army" of each of the armies, which allows you to test it out with some paper or something like that. I am just about to try it out. The rules seem mucho goody, even though they are simplified...

Typheron - March 29, 2005 08:14 PM (GMT)
yeh there the basic rule you get with the starter sets, it lets you have a quick game and can also be used as a referance guide, although it does not cover things such as morale and the liek which are in the main rulebook.

there are basically 4 sides at the moment with the 5th being the upcoming mercinery list allowing you to field a full merc force without any of the main factions.

Cryx - think undead borg, very good at spellcasting and have a lot of dirty tricks to use. there spellcasting is all about weakening the enemy. Lots of small fast units and a few big nasty jacks. Ruled over by a huge freaking dragon.

Kaldor - think crazed russian, a very in your face force, lots of heavy armour but no light jacks what so ever. Magic is also about putting on big hurt but not soley focused on it

Menoth - Religious zealots against magic, lots of flame weapons as they like burning things and magic focused on dispelling and disabeling.

cygnar - techniolgically advanced force with a good balace of spells and units, considered the "good" guys as there all for freedom. i dont know much about them as im not too interested in anythign other than killing them with my cryx.

RasputinII - March 30, 2005 09:20 AM (GMT)
The rule book is dirt cheap too. Just £12. I am going to pick it up I doth believe. I think I will be getting into it, although it will require a radical change in ones mindset. Chili if you are reading this you must take it up too. Although I bags Khador, the russia dudes. Not exactly my playing style but I love the models :D You can bags any one else. Then we can play...

Rogue-Gladiator - March 30, 2005 04:06 PM (GMT)
The models are very very nice. Some of the models have poses that are much more dynamic than anything GW does. And the way they painted them makes them look absolutely beautiful. I may have to buy some, just to check them out.

RasputinII - March 30, 2005 04:19 PM (GMT)
They are simply miles better then GW stuff. Second only to Rackham's range as I have said. But only just second.

Angry Priest - March 31, 2005 09:05 PM (GMT)
here is a really good website to buy the products off :

http://www.wargamesworkshop.com/GroupList....atID=5&DivID=47

also has all of the Warhammer fantasy and 40k minatures also, and because they get it cheap they can afford to knock off £1-2, so when adding postage and packing (again, £1-2) you get it for original price.

much more fairer than GW online store, original outrageous price + equally outrageous postage and packing!!

Typheron - March 31, 2005 11:14 PM (GMT)
in the upcoming expansion theres talk (and at least visual confirmation) of each side getting a Uber warjack, something that can only be fielded one at a time and at least 40 pieces per model.

pure evil warjack from HELL!

Evil is as evil does, and that thing is evil robot incarnate.

Theres also a ever expanding RPG side to the Iron Kingdoms where Warmachine is set, the minature wargame is the offshoot of the RPG setting. They do special minis just for the RPG side. Have a good look through there website for nifty, evil and cool stuff. There nice just to look at.
