Title: The Palace Herald - whats happening

Owaria - November 27, 2004 07:19 PM (GMT)
OK, for 2 weeks you have debated over what to do for the Palace Herald so I am taking charge (this has been discussed in the moderators forum).

There will be 2 main writers who will always write an article (one on painting and one on tactics, the two main parts of the hobby) and an editor (writing if he/she wishes to). Every person who wishes to join should send me a short article (I do not want anyone's 2000 word essay on Hamlet, although I will read it all if it was on Alexander the Great :P). I do not mind what you write about but I do not want to know what you will write about in your first month as this is a full time post. I am also looking for certain things from every position:

Editor:
Grammar - it must all be perfect, it is their job to make sure the article is spelt correctly and that they know their there from their their’s. That is their main job, they can write if they wish to but it is not perfect.

PDF - they must be able to put the articles into this program, or of a similar program. I want to see an example of this so any members wishing to join should sent me an example via email (PM me it for it).

Keeping to date, this person will need to make sure the article comes out on time and to get the articles before the release date
Painting and conversions:
You must be able to explain small things in fine detail and use the correct

You must be able to give good quality photo's. I wish to see a example of a photo if you apply for this position
Tactics:
The ability to show two sides of a story, I don't want to have a writer say 'Rat Ogres are useless don't take them', I want the writer to be able to show 2 sides of the story.

They need to have a wide knowledge of most armies and to know their disadvantages, advantages and how to counter them.
There are things that I expect for all posts, you must be able to be fairly grammatical correct, you may be dyslexic but you can still use the spell checker on word. I also expect you to be able to keep to your commitment. The Herald is bi-monthly so you have 2 months to do a single article, if you know you are going to be busy the second month then make sure you write it in the first month.

Myself and a few other non-biased people will decide who gets these positions.

There will also be other writers; these will change each section, depending on what the main writers have planned. These will be decided by the editor each month.

The forum that has been created is for the writers. When the writers have been decided they will have access to this forum. This is so that they can discuss what they are going to write each month and keep it a secret so you lot do not know what is coming each month.

You have a week to get your entries in.

I can do a battle report dwarves vs vampire couts, 2000 pts with pictures and a detailed report of every phase and me and my opponents tactics....is that ok?
and when is the first issue?
1 january?

Prince Cal - November 27, 2004 10:49 PM (GMT)
Better be 1st of febuary as that would only be 1 month including christmas time if it was the first of january.

Owaria - November 28, 2004 09:24 AM (GMT)
The submission date for articles is going to be 2 weeks before the magazine is to be released. This is so the editor has time to put it into format and make sure the content is ok.

The first issue will be 2nd Feburary (unless the new editor says he feels he can gte it out by January).

I will also sort out who is doing the small articles this month so it will get going.

who is deciding who does what?(editing etc.)

Prince Cal - November 28, 2004 02:08 PM (GMT)
Owaria and a few other non-biased people will decide that. Read owaria's post if you want more details.

The_Eye - November 28, 2004 02:11 PM (GMT)
yea I got that, but who are those non-biased people?

Prince Cal - November 28, 2004 02:26 PM (GMT)
I'd say moonshadow and a few of the other mod's as mod's are probably the best people to do this sort of thing.

Owaria - November 28, 2004 05:19 PM (GMT)
Well, it really depends who has spare time to look over it. What I am thinking of is to post it on another forum that I visit and to ask people to decide who they believe to be the better writer, but I will see how much time a few of the other mods have.

And as for what the written piece is a school project would do.

The_Eye - November 30, 2004 12:38 PM (GMT)
Owaria - you say you're going to do the herald and all the stuff with some other people....but when?

Owaria - November 30, 2004 03:49 PM (GMT)
I was going to wait a week so everyone who is intereted has had time to send me some writing and a few pictures. But King P is back from uni so I am waiting for him to decide if he wants to take off from where I have left off with the Herald.

I'd love to do the painting/modelling section. Here's an example of my writing, and here are some pictures of some of my stuff. The pics aren't very good, but I'll take some better ones at the weekend.

Pick Goblit!

Who said that?

I did say 'short' piece of writing but it will do. On a side note to make your pictures better use a 'macro' function no your camara and put a white background.

I will post mine later but it could be skethcy as my web connection is not working well.

Goblit Skullhelm - December 2, 2004 07:06 PM (GMT)
Yeah, it's long but you don't have to read it all. I just used that as it's to do with Warhammer.
