Ross - November 19, 2004 05:03 PM (GMT)

All we need is 20 characters now
zacharias_the_everling - November 19, 2004 05:33 PM (GMT)
Whats the point limit?
and is it hero or lord?
Ross - November 19, 2004 06:35 PM (GMT)
"smacks forehead"
the character cannot be mounted,be a greater daemon, cost more than 300 points , or be a special character.
Can be a lord or hero.
Luc_Arkhame - November 19, 2004 06:38 PM (GMT)
Are all regular banned items still banned and will heroes be allowed 100 points of magic items to compensate for the fact they are weaker than a lord?
Ross - November 19, 2004 06:51 PM (GMT)
all " nominate one enemy character" items are banned, and that shall be it.Heroes shall have 100 points of magic items,if you really want to take a hero
Aesgareth - November 19, 2004 07:27 PM (GMT)
Been reading a bit of R.A. Salvatore's work lately....
Ghost, Master Assassin (Elector count, 80 points)
M: 4
WS: 5 (switches with opponent)
BS: 4
S: 4 (switches with opponent, gains +2 when making a melee attack)
T: 4
W: 3
I: 5 (switches with opponent, though this only matters if they also have a GW)
A: 3 (switches with opponent)
Ld: 9
Save: 1+
Ward: 4+
Equipment:
The Ghearafu (Van Horstmann's Speculum) A pair of gloves, one black, one white, and a small mirror; these items wouldn't strike one as being a particularly potent magical item, but, in fact, they are among the most powerful artifacts ever created. They allow ghost to "transfer" his soul into the bodies of his foes, and them into his. Not only has this made him almost immortal, but because he always keeps the weakest bodies that he can find as his own, this makes it very hard to defeat him, because he effectively uses his opponents' strength against his own weakeness in order to destroy them (When in a challenge, the wearer switches his WS, S, I and A with that of his opponent. +25 points)
The Ring of Regeneration (Holy relic and Armour of Meteoric Iron) Ghost's other magical artifact is a potent ring of regeneration, which he wears on the toe of his left foot. After he has "killed" his own body (with the soul of his foe inside of it), this ring regenerates it back to full health, just in time for him to re-assume control of it, leaving the stolen body of his foes to die soulless. (Grants a 1+ save and a 4+ armour save, +75 points)
Pitifully weak Though he can never attack first, as he is busy switching bodies with his foes, after the switch is carried out, he always has a very easy time of defeating him, because his "own" body is pitifully weak, making any attacks against it far more damaging than they would be against a regular foe. His opponents have a rather difficult time of fighting back against this... (Always strikes last, confers +2 Strength to melee attacks made (note that this isn't actually an augmentation of his S stat, and so does not transfer to his foes through the speculum.), +6 points)
Total Cost: 186 points
Summary of effects: A number of attacks equal to his opponent's A at his opponent's WS and I, which always hit last and are resolved at his opponent's S+2. His opponent likewise has their own stats replaced by WS5, S4, I5, A3. A 1+ save and a 4+ ward save.
History:
Ghost is a legendary assassin, who has dwelt for hundreds of years, shifting from body to body whenever his own grows weak and near death. Where he obtained the powerful artifact known as the Ghearafu is not known, but such a powerful chaos-infused item surely came at a high price. Physically, he is a short, frail, androgynous being, barely larger than a child, which a perpetually sad expression and a milky, blind left eye, clad in the nondescript clothing of a villager, and completely unarmed. This is only the most recent of such pitiful forms, which his foes soon find, to their chargrin, to be every bit as feeble as they thought they would be when they chose to challenge him...

The_Eye - November 23, 2004 06:50 PM (GMT)
Aesgareth, isn't von horstman's speculum a banned item
Aesgareth - November 23, 2004 07:09 PM (GMT)
He said that only "nominate one character" items were banned. So the speculum is in.
Besides, the guy above you has the talisman of saphery. Why no comment on that?
The_Eye - November 23, 2004 07:15 PM (GMT)
didn't notice it.....but you're right.....also a magic item only usefull against characters....
Aesgareth - November 23, 2004 10:51 PM (GMT)
Longdrong, from the look of things, whoever comes in last is almost guaranteed to win (since anyone else will already be wounded by their enemies). Are there any failsafes in place to insure that this isn't decided entirely by where your character stands in the fight order?
Ross - November 24, 2004 08:13 AM (GMT)
yes, when there is an ENTIRELY now 4 characters fighting (i.e not the starting ones) everyone gets all wounds restored.
Aesgareth - November 24, 2004 04:14 PM (GMT)
Yeah, but here's what I'm afraid of:
Say that my character is one of the first 4. He manages to beat through all the others, and three more (gradually) trickle into the ring. Odds are, he'll take at least a few wounds before this, which means that the three fresh new characters will probably kill him easily. And if they don't, the next three will... With 20 characters, the odds of one of the first characters staying around until the end are rather poor.
Ross - November 24, 2004 04:29 PM (GMT)
how about this then:
thre character who has killed the most enemies/caused most wounds/whatever is the king of the ring.I think this will make it a lot fairer.
zacharias_the_everling - November 24, 2004 07:02 PM (GMT)

Aesgareth - November 25, 2004 01:47 AM (GMT)
Well, that will end up penalizing those who come in last, as they'll have at most three people left to kill, whilst someone who is in before will be able to kill indiscriminately.
How about you retire each character from the ring and heal them fully every time that all the characters who were in the ring when he entered are dead, and put them back at the end of the "line"? You could keep notes to this effects, such as:
-Sigmar, Mork, Hashut and Khorne enter the ring.
-Mork dies and Quetzl enters the ring; already in ring: Sigmar, Hashut and Khorne
-Khorne dies and Nagash enters the ring; already in ring: Sigmar, Hashut and Quetzl
-Hashut dies and Gork enters the ring, Sigmar is removed from ring and Asuryan enters the ring. Currently in ring: Quetzl, Nagash, Gork and Asuryan.
And so on and so fourth, until all but one are dead, with each "retiree" being placed at the end of the line for later recycling.

Mark of Khorne (frenzy)
Chaos Daemon Sword: WS, S, I, A of Bloodthirster, rolls of 1 to hit are resolved against the bearer.
Heavy Armour, Enchanted Shield (3+ save)
I'll fluff him up later, I suppose, once the rules have been worked out. 230-ish points.
Aesgareth - November 25, 2004 05:26 AM (GMT)
Vriishnak, you're kinda forgetting the other part of the daemon sword; If you roll a 1, you hit yourself, and natural 1's can't be re-rolled.
Icepick - November 25, 2004 05:22 PM (GMT)
how about this for the rules:
we play 5 groups of 4 characters (20 players), then we taken the best 5 out of those 5 groups and they face off in another group to decide who is king of the ring :P
Vriishnak the Twisted - November 25, 2004 08:28 PM (GMT)
Aesgareth: Yes I was, sorry. Edited in, now.
Aesgareth - November 25, 2004 09:42 PM (GMT)
Yeah, your idea is cool too.
Vriishnak the Twisted - November 25, 2004 10:11 PM (GMT)
Okay, a quick thought on how the arena could run.
Beginning, you select 4 (or however many) characters at random (assign a number from 1-20 to each character, I guess, and randomly select).
You pair them up randomly again, or have a free-for-all type battle, however you want it to run, until someone dies. At that point, whoever killed them is "warped" from the arena, and replaced with another, randomly selected character, whose wounds are restored to full. As they're warped out, they're replaced in the pool of characters available to draw from. Basically, you'll always have the set number of random characters in, but starting off in the 'ring' isn't really a punishment.
Is that clear? Any questions or comments?

oh no! Intrigue at court!
I am vehmentatly opposed to that.
Vriishnak the Twisted - November 26, 2004 03:58 PM (GMT)
What? That's not at all like Intrigue. He was already choosing the characters at random, my way just insures that the people who go in first aren't guaranteed to lose.
The_Eye - November 26, 2004 07:58 PM (GMT)
guys, in case you didn't noticed, I changed my character a bit :P
AravarGaldean - November 27, 2004 01:17 PM (GMT)
:P yea I kno it's not intrigue.... just the part about giving each character numbers...
^_^ oh well! Carry on.
