while reading funky elf's post i couldnt help but be inspired to write a chaos dwarf list.

now im requesting that EXPERIANCED players help me (anyone can help, but i'd like some really experianced players, KU, Chili, im looking at you two) write a list that is BALANCED for chaos dwarves. in my opinion it could be based on the chaos lists, but still be our own list.

if enough people say yes to this i will make a a special section of my current forum (s7.invisionfree.com/The_Clashing_fields) dedicated to this project

my plan is once we have this finishedm we shall put it up for download on a part of my site. BUT THATS NOT ALL. In order to download it you must agree to sign our petition!
its not really a petition, but more of a hey this list is really great!
you have to playtest the list and then sign that you and your opponents agreed that the list was fair and balanced :thumb:

thanks!

So you have to sign the petition to download the list, but playtest the list to sign the petition? Doesn't really make a whole lot of sense...

I think the idea is that the last sentence is not talking solely about the people mentioned earlier in the post.

I'd help with this - I quite enjoy dreaming up new rules. However, I put a disclaimer: your perception of me as a veteran/experienced player is entirely your own opinion. I make no claim to being good at the job, having never really tried to write rules for mainstream WH before.

I recommend you sign up people to deal with specific sections of the list i.e. characters, core, special, rare, magic items, and so on and so forth. I myself would love to have a crack at special. However, first of all you need to create a topic for the recruited designers to discuss what they think they should do with the list overall, i.e. making sure no-one puts Hobgoblins in core and someone else puts them in special, drafting race-specific rules, and so on and so forth.

wow, fast replies

but i wrote that in like five minutes, so gimmie a break. but this is the basic idea, i like what chili said about teams of people to work on different things.

Hmm.. wouldn't mind attempting this, but as Chili said don't expect me to be named a vet. The reason behind this is I don't play, well it's not that I wouldn't want to but more that no one near me does. Though this maybe in for a change soon, and the last time I did play was in Aug at Britcon with Owaria and DLJ.

But if I can help, then sure why not.

great!
you guys werent the only ones im talking about, but you seem very knolegeable when it comes to the rules and fluff

what i meant was that when you downlaod you agree to playtest the rules, and try and get people's sigs that they think its a good list.

Funky the Elf - November 10, 2004 02:03 AM (GMT)
I dont think one would have to write a new list. However, there are quite a few modifications that should be made. Still I dont think that the list is bad from a general point of view, some things are just not thoroghly thought through (man, those three words look almost the same and sound so different, English is weird...)

My friend and me have quite a few home rules when we use chaos dwarves. One is that we changed the rules for blunderbusses a bit, I posted that some time ago a few topics further down. Another is that we count hobgoblins as core choices, although one needs two units to get one core choice. That varies the armies more, as otherwise the core choices are always very similar.

Two things we were planning to do and just havent got to it yet are 1) to make a bigger variety of magic items. The puny selection they have got at the moment is ridiculous. 2) Create an elite infantry unit. It seems strange that chaos dwarf warriors are hacked to bits by high elf elite troops, they are just not good enough. Having an elite unit as a special (or rare) choice, e.g. with WS5, S4 (S6 with 2-H-W) and possibly full plate armour would extend possibilities and increase the quality of the army.

well, i agree, that those home rules are great. But as for the ravening hordes list, it just seems so empty...

on chaosdwarf.com there has been a discussion about giveing chaos dwarves their own lore, we were talking about giving them iron golems, and maybe a daemonic unit. i think that we could adapt the rules from the ravening hordes list to our purposes.

another thing i was thinking about was the swivel gun they had once upon a time

I still have the old chaos dwarf book, so I could try giving them their own lore based on the old chaos dwarf magic if you're intrerested...

I would happily help.
If you want I will look for old my chaos dwarf army (my second) which I have held onto, but not used it in 4 years.

hi there, just to quickly introduce myself on here as this is my 1st post, my name is Beanz (:D) and am a regular on the druchii.net forum (dark elf dedicated) I've been gaming now for around 9 years (since the age of 11ish) and have been collecting DEs now since they arrived in 6th edition - I love them and now own around 7000pts of em. However I am now looking to find a new army to start, and seeing as my preference is for forces that others don't often use (someone has to pay them attention! B) Chaos Dwarves are at the foremost of my mind. Esp as they dont have an army book for this edition. So yeah - hi peeps!! ^_^

right onto the juicy stuff. I've been whizzing around various forums and topics with ideas for a chaos dwarf revision and have some various links with some interesting info. This should give you a good base and some discussion ideas. I personally am all up for helping you playtest and add ideas when needed during the time I'm at Uni and gaming with friends back home :thumb:

This first site is perhaps one of the most popular chaos dwarf dedicated forums on the internet these days and has a 'strong' rumour about GW introducing chaos dwarves as an 'allied contingent' much like Kislev - read it for yourself and make your own judgements. I personally think its another fan-based idea for an army list rather than something official...

http://www.chaosdwarf.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=1944

...which is why I recommend this website's contribution to a revision, which sadly has'nt continued since August...

http://www.asur.org.uk/ulthuan/viewtopic.p...der=asc&start=0

darkprincess is also a part of druchii.net and as I noticed, helped throughout with the DE revision. Sadly the discussion she had planned on this site never wholly concluded. There are a LOT of good ideas here, its a very rich source, both fluff wise - giving reasons for background as well as rules suggestions, army composition and a set of mechanics as to how the army would work. I only read this an hour ago and haved replied to it yet, but it really IS worth a read.

Lastly, there is this lighthearted thread on a website that has a few chaos dwarf players but there are ideas on the basics of chaos dwarves as they currently are (ie. Ravening Hordes edition) and is a good basis for how Chaos Dwarves currently are, what they need boosting with etc.

I'm gonna come back and check this forum sometime and see if we have much response, like I say if we have a sufficient reply from a dedicated core we could maybe hitch up with these 'minor sites' and sort out an organised revision in a formal and structured manner that we could perhaps get GW to notice.

Drop me a PM on druchii.net, I have the same name on there: Dangerous Beans if you're interested.

speak soon

-Beanz

PS. here is a petition to GW for an official Chaos Dwarf army book:
