I got this from tcolonna at Chaos Dwarf.com
QUOTE
Now, before you all get mad about this just hear me out. I may be way off base, but IF GW was to not do a new book, this is a vauble alternative to still having an army....

Have you ever thought about using the Chaos list to build your CD's?

CD Warriors - Chaos Warriors.
BUll Centaurs - Dragon Ogres
Earthshaker - hellcannon
slaves - mortals.

Plus modelling possibilites of a HUGE proportion with all the other units that are availible.

Can you say hounds = GORGONS!
Chaos Ogres - Giant Dwarves
Giant = STONE GOLEM

We would, however loose the blunderbuss, which is a staple so that is an issue....

I am sensitive to the fact that CD's have thier own history and fluff, but it could be an oportunity to have some great modelling fun!

The reason why I bring this up is last night I was asked to play in a 3000 point tournament in 3 weeks and I only have 2000 points of CD's, but a ton of other stuff that I couold convert as cool alternates to Chaos units.

Be Brutally honest on this one....

In my opinion it's a good idea, but i hate to loose the blunderbuss :(

I admit that my first feeling was "hey, why not?"

After second thought I changed my opinion radically and think the traitor should be burned quickly. Ive already been gathering some wood in the forest outside.

Why?

2 reasons:

- Fluff. I love the chaos dwarf fluff. Using the models as substitutes for another army would be a tremendous insult to all chaos dwarves and their history. Should that really be the future of chaos dwarves? To pretend they are another race? Would be very sad, even if my personal sympathy for the short evil fellows is not the greatest (my neighbour is actually a chaos dwarf (at least he looks like one) and keeps complaining about me being to loud, you know, music, parties etc., nothing intolerable).

- Defiance. Can GW do what it wants? We'll see about that. We are the players, we have our rights. They want to get rid of chaos dwarves? We will start a revolution. Lets see who will have the last word.
(Ok, probably not even my cat would care if I started a revolution against GW, but having certain principles is still better than giving in to everything they say, isnt it?)

GW is well, GW

they control the rules and whatnot, and frankly I hated the idea at first too.

then i was browsing the forum i posted a link to earlier and realized how many attempts had been made.

did GW respond to these?

HELL NO!
they regard us witha shrug, or an occasional "meh"

as far as the game goes in the long run, i think that this may WELL be the best we get. i would much rather adopt the fluff to the chaos rules than have CD be made into an allied contingent, because thats just WRONG! Chaos dwarves would never ally with ANYONE! for gods sake theyre out to enslave the world! why would they suddenly change their mind and folow OTHER armies, and follow the orders of OTHER generals? in my opinion that is the worst thing that will happen to us.
so as far as i see it we have to do something
(because GW hasent responded to the countless attempts and even death threats (ok so there were no death threats but that makes this post more dramatic!)

i can understand where you're coming from Funky, but again, this may be the best we can do. :(
