Prince Cal - May 30, 2004 09:02 AM (GMT)
Yep, sadly it is not working.

Kingphesphestus - May 30, 2004 02:11 PM (GMT)
Try now It should be working, If its still not i'll try and see what the problem is but should work.

Prince Cal - May 30, 2004 03:10 PM (GMT)
It is very good.

Khrangar - May 30, 2004 03:30 PM (GMT)
It says "Document not Found" when I go to view it.

Blood Angel IV - May 30, 2004 03:30 PM (GMT)
I can't see it...still...Can i get some help here?

Drauthnir - May 30, 2004 04:04 PM (GMT)
Argh, we are so close too. I can't see it either.

Yet another obstacle we must overcome. Now let's all praise those who run e-zines for a living.

Tombguard321 - May 30, 2004 05:12 PM (GMT)
I cannot access it either perhaps we could find another site to host it.

giles - May 30, 2004 07:13 PM (GMT)
argh!! my masterpiece!! i suggest finding another site to host it too.

Kingphesphestus - May 31, 2004 01:30 AM (GMT)
Try the link now it should work fine.

giles - May 31, 2004 07:13 PM (GMT)
 it appears to have worked. excellent!

King Ulrik Flamebeard - May 31, 2004 08:40 PM (GMT)
I can't get to it, everytime I attempt to load it up it comes up with a pop-up saying I need to install Windows Journal or something. Now I don't trust these pop-ups, it seems lots like to screw with my machine <_<

Now anyone else get this too? If it's just me why does Adobe work but no e-zine? I've never had to install anything before to view a PDF (well except the program itself etc).

Xarhain - May 31, 2004 09:02 PM (GMT)
I got it working, King make sure you have the most recent adobe acrobat. Other than that sorry I cant help.

WOAH! That was great! Cool mag, cant wait for the next one! I especially like the battle report and Maelduins tactic articles. I had one problem with the mag, it ended too quick! Make it bigger!

Good work everyone who helped make it, I really loved it.

Drauthnir - May 31, 2004 09:44 PM (GMT)
It turned out quite well. Congrats to the makers!

A 17 page trial run wasn't bad, but yes, bigger will be great.

Giles, nice job putting it to gether. I guess the different word program we use, etc would have clashed a little, lol.

King Ulrik Flamebeard - May 31, 2004 10:06 PM (GMT)
I do have the lastest updates.... WAAAGGHH!!! I can't see it!!!! :( :( :(

Ok I keep getting this "Windows Journal Viewer" trying to install itself and I can't see where it is or anything, nor can I find it on any disk etc. Any ideas?

Paco - June 1, 2004 01:17 AM (GMT)
"Windows Journal" is a Windows update, these updates can be found here, if I remember correctly there is a Journal update but this magazine should be opening in Adobe anyways. But if you want to try and install the journal update, I recommend you get it from the site above since you know it's a true microsoft update.

Kingphesphestus - June 1, 2004 01:50 AM (GMT)
try saveing it to your hard drive.
Then open Your pdf reader. adobe for example.
Once thats open.
Go file, open, and open the pdf from there.

giles - June 1, 2004 09:22 AM (GMT)
i suggest we let ppl know it is done, due to the long delays it seems like prettymuch only mods and admins (and me of course :P ) have viewed it.

Xarhain - June 1, 2004 10:30 AM (GMT)
And ME!!!!!!!!

Perhaps an announcement?

LordChilipepa - June 5, 2004 08:50 PM (GMT)
Hmmm... not bad at all. I definitely agree that it could do with more bulk. My other points of (hopefully) constructive criticism:

1. Kingphesphestus' TK army article was exactly what I hate when they run it in the WD - 'How I built my army'. What I think we need in this kind of article is, rather than 'I chose a Tomb Prince on Foot, with such and such equipment', is 'When choosing a Tomb Kings general, a major decision is whether to go on foot or on a chariot. While a chariot offers x advantages, these are counterbalanced by the y advantages of a footslogger. Since my army was designed to do z, I plumped for a Prince on foot. His equipment needed to do a, so I chose items b and c...'

Basically what I at least and hopefully most others are looking for is a document to help and instruct folks on good ways to select an army, featuring logical progression and a clear exploration of the different advantages and disadvantages of the army's components. Instead what we get (both in the Herald and the WD - did anyone see the article 'building a Bretonnian army?), is a seemingly arbitrary progression of specific choices for a somewhat nondescript army.

2. The look needs a few tweaks. In many places I saw letters run together, and the cover was not impressive.

3. A bit more of flow and even, perchance, flair to the writing might make a lot of difference. In that first issue it seemed a bit matter-of-fact and stodgy.

4. As I said at the beginning, more bulk is needed. More in-depth articles, and more articles.

5. More care needs to be taken with the choice of articles. While the Decertus feature had an interesting part on modelling, most of us have seen the rest of it before, posted. While the batrep was written with a certain style and was interesting enough, it was only 500pts, and a border scuffle isn't too riveting. The Dragon Ogre thing had been posted before, as with Decertus, and the TK article was only a very slight variant on the 'rate my army' posts. If we've seen it on the boards, it shouldn't be in the mag, unless you have an extremely different take on it.

That being said, it's definitely a great effort, and I doubt that I could have done better on a first edition :). Onwards, to Issue 2...

Tombguard321 - June 6, 2004 03:49 AM (GMT)
The cover was my fault though considering i was only able to work on it 5 mins at a time (or more but never over 10 minutes) due to the fact, that i was still in college trying to get assignments done in time and had three projects at the same time.

Anyways am no longer doing covers, that has been left in the hands of ... erm, Rogue_Gladiator :-D so the next cover will look alot better but should the Magazine cover 40k then i can include starting armies as i have nearly every army for 40k (only ones i have not got is Chaos, Dark Eldar and Orks)

Prince Cal - June 6, 2004 08:27 AM (GMT)
Maybe. I play nids, chaos and Imperial guard at the moment. Perhaps we should do a poll.

Im crushed Chilli, Really I am. ^_^

Just To point it out though It wasn't a how to build an army it was a tournament pre-report, No need To go all in depth, That would of been a different Artice then.

I mean it was just a quick this is my army and tactics not a.

When choosing an army at any points you have to take a tomb prince or king to be general, now they can either be mounted in a chariot or not, now while a chariot means you are tougher and quicker you are generall going to be in a smaller unit and if that unit dosent break an enemy it can be very bad for you, basically waht Im saying is that While you'll have the speed to pick your battles you'll have to pick your battles much more carefully. Unmounted however you will often be recieving the charge, however you can generally get a rather solid unit behind your guy to soak up the combat resolution and any shooting that can come your way.....

I mean sure I could write one like hat but it would be very long to do so.

P.s Are you still doing the article you said for issue 2 if so please just post a quick summary in issue 2 so its clear what you intend, thanks ^_^
