Title: Favorite RoR
Description: What's your favorite and why?
SniperGTX - May 27, 2004 10:56 PM (GMT)
Just put down your top five worst 3 and why and then let the debate commence.
My Fave are 1. Baranzas Besiegers/ Uber armored archers
2. Long Drongs Slayers/ Dwarfs with guns what's not to like
3. Brozino's Galloper Guns/ Movable cannons and decent cavalry
4. Marksmen of Marigilano/ Awesome archers(less armor <_< )
5. Pizarros Lost Legion/ Unique formations
Worst EVER!!!!
1. Birdman of Catrazza/ these are flying crossbowmen that cost 25pts. and might as well droping pigeon poop on people.
2. Vespero's Vendetta/ these are a slap in the face of the regular duelists I love these are overpriced goths lead by a drunk whereing a rubber mask.
3. Cursed Company/ wow they suck at cc and can't range but wait they can summon skeleons oh no but they only one who fight is Reik and that's one guy so they suck.
P.S anyone know a site where I can get the witchhunters rules can't find them.

I would assume you're talking about Wilhelm and Johann, the Dogs of War regiment known as the Witch Hunters, and not the 40K army, right?
The last (and most recent) set of info *I* have on them is from White Dwarf 257 (June of '01), on page 87. I haven't found a website with the stats for them, but then, since I have the magazine, I haven't had to look for it, either. I would recommend checking to see if there is an on-line WD archive. It would be in there somewhere.

As for *my* favorite Dogs of War, um, I actually like them all, truth be told, but then, that's my main army.
If I had to choose:
1. Voland's Venators (In part because they're the rough equivalent of Inner Circle knights, and in part because I like the background).
2. Braganza's Beseigers (crossbows, heavy armor, and pavise shields? What's not to like? Now if those shields were of any use in h-t-h...)
3. Duellists. Not any specific DOW regiment of renown, but just normal duellists. With pistols, given a choice.
4. Bronzino's Galloper Guns (they just LOOK cool! This is the model that got me into wargaming in the first place, back about eight or nine years ago).
Ones I hate:
1. Birdmen of Catrazza. Not because they're expensive, but because those crossbows they carry aren't crossbows anymore, they're just fancy-looking normal bows. I liked them better before. Other than that, they're okay.
2. Um... That's about it, actually. I'm okay with most of the rest, except for Asarnil the Dragonlord, and the only grief I have with him is he's so expensive I never get to use him in a battle! Soon, however, my plans will come to fruition and my entire army will march to war, covering the tables with their... eh? What was that? Oh... Yeah, that would be a problem... Sorry, my associates here just reminded me that I can't physically *carry* my entire army. Nevermind. <_<
Actually, I do have one (little, petty) complaint. Why doesn't the DOW army have a. chariots, b. more flying creatures, c. elves, d. beastmen. However, since I've made regiments of renown for all of those (except the chariots), it really is a silly thing to complain about.
Benedictus - May 30, 2004 10:33 PM (GMT)
Why would they have chariots?
giles - May 31, 2004 07:59 PM (GMT)
how about a famous chariot racer who leads trainees into war??? possibly? ben hur stylee

No particular reason, I just like chariots.
Actually, I would kind of like stats for a carrocio that I could use to augment the Paymaster's abilities (basically a rallying-point/mobile symbol of sorts for an Italian city-state - kind of a neat idea, but I'm not sure how to use one, and I'd want to use it like a chariot anyway...)

Even though this is off subject I had an Idea once to have Hochland Snipers and a Baranza's team cept with like elephant guns and be a close fire squad that be like a mini hellblaster.

Ol'e Empire War Wagon once had a trainee engineer that was sporting a Blunderbuss gun, ye.
That thing fancily used the breath weapons template, dealing, if ma memory serves, a S4 hit for the poor lads under the template.
A recall this fondly, ye.

I only usually select RoR when I want to include them for fluff reasons, or if I rename them for fluff reasons. Therefore, my choices are based mainly on fluff.
Favourites
1. Alcanti Fellowship
2. Duellists
3. Ricco's Republican Guard
4. Birdmen of Catrazza (I often use the theme of a group from the Engineer's Guild eager to test their work
5. Halfling Hot Pot
I don't really have any worst ones, since I find I'm able to incoporate pretty much all of them into my army (fluff-wise).
