..A shield with a GW..You need an extra arm for that..And I don't think CD can take Chaos Mutations..
And those are scarce numbers for models for 2500 points

Well yes models can have a shield and a GW but they can only use the shield verus ranged attacks...

Must have made a mistake there. I dont know how much bull centaurs cost but I know that they have 2 wounds and 2 attacks. Common sense tells me that they cant cost less than 25 points a piece. I would guess more like 40 or 45.
Please tell me Im right - Im fighting against chaos dwarves next week... :unsure:

No they cost 20 pts each and has only 1 wound... But they still have 2 attacks.

You don't need one though to take a GW and a shield. You just need one to USE both of them at the same time. So, shield only really helps you against shooting, but I guess theoretically you could decide to use hand weapon instead of GW and go for more armor save, if you really wanted to. (S4 fighting HTH against skinks, say, no need for S6, might as well up the armor save)
