Title: Grand Tourney Dogs of War Celtic List

skinkalicious - December 20, 2003 12:10 AM (GMT)
Hey All,
I am going to give a go at my first Grand tourney this spring and wanted opinions as to my proposed Army List. I am taking a CELTIC dogs of war list. The abridged Fluff-
Captain Shemus McLellan has gathered his boys to march off to war to fight all of the lying cheating armies of the East and West. Shemus and his boys have fought for many armies over the last few years and because they are considered a "peasent army" by most they have been cheated out of the money they earned with their blood. A few regiments of joined this fight.

To keep with my theme I am not using any crossbows and only one unit of Pikes. and About 75 out of the 100 or so models will have Kilts.. (yes I am modeling them on!! )

Captain- on a Pegasus-Enchanted Shield and Lance

PayMaster- with Heavy Armor Enchanted Shield and Sword of might.

CORE-
1 Unit of 8 Fast Cav with Spears and Bows
1 Unit of 8 Fast Cav with Spears and Bows
1 Unit of 7 duelists with hand weapon and pistol
1 unit of 7 Duelists with Hand Weapon and Pistol
1 Unit of 24 Leopolds Leopards
1 Unit of 8 Vespero's Vendetta

Special-
1 unit of 20 Long Drongs slayer pirates
1 Unit of 11 Paymaster's bodygaurd
1 Unit of 5 Ogres with Great Weapons

Rare-
Truthsayer of Albion-
2 Fenbeasts

This is a finesse army with a little bit of a punch. I amtrying to stay within a theme and have it look cool.
My display board will be Long Drongs pirate ship at a pier with my troops unloading.

Let me know what you think..

I think if you read the rules in the main Rule Book for Warhammer Fantasy, you'll find that you can't have two of the same magic item, except for Power Stones and Dispel Scrolls. In other words, you can't have two Enchanted Shields. I would replace one of them with the Talisman of Protection instead.

Duelists are great, but require timing to use right.

Light Cavalry is loads of fun, but doesn't have much staying power against heavily-armored opponents.

Other than that, sounds great! Have fun making the kilts! :)
