Just got back from reading many posts of Panther glitches and problems on the MacFixIt forums.
I'd highly recommend anyone thinking of upgrading/installing Panther do their homework BEFORE installing it.
I was about to install on an extra internal drive and then read that Panther doesn't like RAID cards causing your raid not to be recognized. There are also reports that RAIDs (and many external FW drive) have been corrupted after upgrading to Panther.
Lots of problems being reported with Panther....
Problems with external FW and 3rd party cards....most disk utils (DiskWarrior, Norton, etc) are useless, some hubs/routers failing, and lot's of features not working correctly.
I'm going to install on a spare drive on my son's iMac so I can start playing with Panther, but I'm definitely taking a "wait and see" before doing my G4.
My oldest son will probably dive right into Panther... he's always been my "guinea pig"... and somehow he always comes out fine. Problem is, he now live 90 miles away (school) so I can't play with his machine anymore!
Yeah, I'm the same way, if I had it, it would already be fully set, tested and customized, cause I can't leave well enough alone.
