Title: Ipod Back To ITunes?

al80 - October 26, 2003 09:45 AM (GMT)
Bonjour.

I have recently had to endure the physical and financial agony of having to have my central G4 hard drive replaced after it managed to somehow corrupt itself.

It has now been replaced and is working perfectly - but all of my ITunes music is obviously gone. However I have all of that music stored on my Ipod, and would now like to transfer it back to my Mac for use on ITunes.

But this doesn't seem to be possible. Is it? I'm running the G4 on Jaguar and appear to have tried everything.

Am I doing something wrong?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I just plug my iPod into my mac and it loads on the desktop. Are you having trouble doing this?

Yes I am.

ITunes sees the music from the IPod but the text is grey and I am not able to select it. So I can't tell ITunes to copy the music back into my Hard Drive.

I'm starting to believe that this operation is impossible.

Welcome to The Mac Forum.
1. Nothing is impossible.
2. Does your iPod mount on your desktop? Can you copy your music into your music folder?

Hi there, and thanks for the welcome.

The Ipod never seems to mount on my desktop at all - it is only ever recognised by Itunes, which automatically starts up.

The only way I have ever added or deleted music on it is through ITunes.

Is there a way of getting it up on the desktop and doing it from there?

Many thanks in advance!

Whoops...... scratch that. For some reason the Ipod icon has just appeared on the desktop - but I cannot select any music from it for some reason.... the only folders that appear are Calenders, contacts and notes.

Is there a way to bring up the music also?
