Hello everyone!
i have the question with upgrade to "Panther" from "Jaguar",
first, what is better - upgrade or archive and install?
and if i choose to do "archive and install" what would happend with my music in iTunes or photos in iPhoto, and what about the apps what came with Jaguar like - Apple Works, World Book and Quicken, do i have to reinstall everything again?
[fpimac] Currently I have the iMac G4 1Ghz, 768 Mb ram, and running "Jaguar" 10.2.8
Any halp will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
thanks in advance!!!
Alex
Personaly I'd backup and reformat the HD, start totally from scratch, the system should then be at It's peak, but thats just me. And I'm not quite right. But the process takes a quite a few hours to complete. As for the other 2 I don't know, since I've never bothered to try either.
Welcome to The Mac Forum.
I would just backup whatever I would be upset if I lost (music, documents, library) and then do an Upgrade Install of Panther. My upgrade went fine, and that's exactly what I did.

me too-what Sysops said- Just do the upgrade- It will preserve all your settings and you won't have to scramble around and re-install all your other software. The paperwork that comes with 10.3 recommends an upgrade if you are installing over Jaguar. My upgrade took anout 1.5 hours and was successful. I had to re-enter some of my preferences in mail and iTunes and I am still finding little things that have been changed but it's working very smoothly.
