Title: I just upgraded....

Sysop - October 25, 2003 01:53 PM (GMT)
I got my copy of Panther last night. The line was about 2 miles long, but I waited and bought my copy of Panther. I went home and went to bed, but when I got up, the first thing I did was pop in the Upgrade 1 CD. I finally got through all 2 CDs (Yes, there are 3 upgrade CDs, but it did not ask me to insert the 3rd one), I was panting away. Boy, this is really cool. The faster user switching "cube" thing is really awesome. It just switches the desktop.
Has anyone else upgraded yet?

Not yet.

Is it faster? I'm very interested to see if iMovie and iDVD get any faster. I find both rather sluggish now. I know the problem is probably the programs themselves, but I'm "wishful thinking" along the lines of the OS.

My G4 needs a good "spring cleaning" so I'm considering a clean install of Panther.

I have been using it for a few days...I work for Apple. Now that it has been released, I got my personal copy last night for my home machine. It is great.

I use iMovie and iDVD alot...it seems to have improved them.

I can't tell you guys anything proprietary, but if you have just basic questions about Apple, I am kept very up to date...

Apple employees have their own group? Sweet. I wonder if I know them. Where is this group?

I went to the Apple Store in Rockingham Park, NH, and yes, the line was two miles long. I waited for at least an hour, bought Panther, Max Payne, BloodRayne, and Undying. I got home, unpacked the stuff, and wiped my hardrive clean. Yep. After setting up Panther, my computer got noticably faster. The great user switching, you mentioned, is great. Yep, redudant, but great. There are many great features, but I am sad to say that some games o not work with this OS. BloodRayne, for example. It screws up the opening movies, and when you select "New Game", it goes black and quits. I would wait to install Panther until a new patch, but it is great if you are not an avid gamer.

Sorry to say it Snake, but BloodRyane is a total waste of space, it possibly the worst developed game ever for the Mac. It has massive problems because the developers did a rush job on it and screwed up what looked to be a great game. Your best bet is to take it back. This isn't just my opinion of it, everyone who's played it has the same opinion, it just plain sux. And I had such high hopes for that one...
