Title: casual posting

Jonathan Tweet - October 24, 2003 03:39 AM (GMT)
Is there a section of this forum for just general, mac related posting? Everything seems so specific and organized.

I don't know whether or not it is ok just to post casual stuff, since you mac genius guys are so busy with answering people's questions.

There's General Chat. You can post anything there as long as it's clean. Any subject you want to talk about.

Welcome to the forum. I hope you like it and will hang around a for a while.

Mac's new OS is coming out tomorrow so I'm sure there will be a lot to talk about after everyone's had a chance to experience it. Mine will be here tomorrow--I just got the tracking confirmation from FedEx.

Jonathan,
The board staff is a little excited about Panther coming out today, so please bear with us. We also had server trouble last night, and we're still "recovering" from that. You can expect my "Important Information" box to disappear sometime tonight.
Anyway, as Alan said, YES, General Chat is the place. Have fun in there, talk about anything......mac related or not mac related. Just keep it clean.

My Panther arrived at 12:00 noon yesterday and I am up and running- and I have just spent the last half hour posting some questions on the Apple site. It's very nice and seems to be very responsive but there are a couple things that so far, do not work to well.

1, there are no embedded HTML images in the eMails I get from eBay, MacMall and other advertisers who send me their daily dribble. This will not do! I like looking at the pictures. I have the preferences box checked correctly to recieve HTML imaging.

2, On the Apple/Netscape page, I can't view the video news stories that are offered right there on the main page of the site. When I click a video, Graphic Converter opens and tells me that this is an unsupported format and cannot be viewed. You would think QT would be engaged to play videos on Apple's own browser. I have RealPlayer, WinMedia Player and QT Pro and can still not open those darned videos. Do I need yet another plug in or something?

There's more but I have to go to work now-- Hey SYSOP, you might consider having a whole sepatate "Panther" page for these discussions--There may already be one- I haven't looked.

Have a nice day
