Welcome to the Mac Forum!!!

What happens when you try a different keyboard(KB) on the system?

What disk is it that your trying to load?

You tried going internal yet on the KB? One of the cables may have broken, its a simple thing to fix tho.

Check the KB connector, one of the pins may have bent, can't tell you how many times I've bent a pin without realizing it and thought something else was broken when it was just a simple repair.

As for floppys, the last one I used is no longer in production, but you can a drive and disks from MacWarehouse.(the links are dynamic, so I can't make a direct one.)

[NOTE] This is from a PM message that laura sent me.

thank you for the welcome to the Mac Forum *s*

the disk i am trying to load is the OS. it is passworded.
but as the KB is not responding, i cannot enter the P/W to start the boot up sequence on the HD (disk).

i have tried another KB yes, but still .. the same issue
however, the new KB was a OS X board and i am not running OS X so i am not sure that as well was an issue!

no bent pins...

thank you for the links. i will look into that.

[NOTE] To laura: sorry to bring the message of the PM box to the main forum, but we here at the Mac Forum like to try to keep all of the technical info to the public so that anyone with a similar problem or a solution can chime in at any time.

Do you have acess to OS X on that machine or have a install disk for it? better yet is if you have a friend with it thats willing to swap HDs to see if the OS X will load up, since OS X will run on less than 128Mb of ram(kinda...you wouldn't want to keep it that way) and see if it works then. Also see if anything on the inside is loose.

Anybody else want to add their input? James, George?

If you look at where you plug the keyboard into the computer, is there anything in there? Sometimes, a pin will get "stuck" in the computer, and that is not good.

Glad to hear it, I've been away from OS 9 for far too long... I should have figured an extension could be to blame, (smacks self in head whilst calling self stupid), thats one of the classic OS 9 and down hang-ups.

Well at least its working. Come back any time.
