Title: iSight+iChat+AIM=?

Sysop - September 25, 2003 10:53 PM (GMT)
I was wondering if I got an iSight, I'd use iChat, but can other PC users videochat with me using AIM?

You can video chat with only .Mac users. You can text chat with PC users over iChat but no video or audio. The current cofiguration of iChatAV has a lot of issues and PC compatibility is but one of them. Before you buy the thing, go to the iSight/iChat discussion group and just look for a minute at all the problems people are having with it. I just called Apple today and told them that iSight/iChat dosen't work with my G5 and they told me that this was a "known issue" and they were working to resolve it. Apparently there is a problem with OS X.2.7 which is what shipped on this and other new macs. Older (10.2.6) works better. You may have good luck with yours.

Alan,
In regards to your G5 problem, do you have 10.2.8 installed? It just came out this week. Check SWUpdate.

Thank you but the update to 10.2.8 is no longer available and it was not for the G5 anyway. I'm seriously thinking about selling this thing and getting a G4 PowerMac. I could probably still get almost as much as I paid for it on eBay. I like the studio monitor and a separate tower is handy (as opposed to the "all in one-ness") of an iMac. I am writing a blog about my experiences with the G5- I will post it here soon.
