Sorry but that may never happen, the reason Macs work so well is the closed development, by controlling the quality of what is produced for the Apple configured systems(the stuff you can choose from on Apple's online store) they can ensure you that it will work as advertised, while no system is perfect Mac OS X comes as close as you can get, but not every Mac is flawless, there will always be manufacturing defects. If it interests you you can check out
Project Marklar its Apple's development of an x86 version of OS X that they're saving as a last resort weapon.
I've never used Linux but I hear that its not for beginners, and that it takes quite a bit of work to get up and running at first, but after that its pretty d@mn stable, but on a Mac you get the best of both worlds, you get the power of BSD Darwin UNIX and a fully supported gui based OS. And theres really no reason to run another version of *nix on it since with Apple's free downloads like x11 and the others you get to add tons of extra power to both OS X and the Darwin core.
What version/flavor of linux do you plan on running? My mom's pastor is an avid *nixer and last I checked was running Red Hat. I could ask him if he could help you if you need it.
