Hi and welcome to our little forum. Do you have Windows Media Player installed on your Mac? you can get it here:Mactopia

Install the player and then see if you can view your movies.

Good luck.

I don't know what I was thinking there. You must already have WMP or you probably couldn't even hear the sound. I have a movie like that too. All black but with audio. It was sent to me in a email. Any yet at other times I have been able to view Windows media files. I just wish the whole world used QuickTime, darnit.

Why use WMP, it skips badly, even on the fastest systems when V.L.C. is a far better product, it may be beta but its by far and away better than WMP.

Its always a good idea to have divx disk doctor and plain divx installed for cross-compatible problems. It fixes things like this. Hope it helps for you. [happy mac]

That VLC is a pretty cool video player... It works with my quicktime movies but it won't play Windows Media. Well, it won't play the one I have been trying to watch.

Odd, I've had yet to have a problem with it. What codec is th movie in?

~Thankyou thankyou all for your comments, best response yet from 8+ forums.....

~ I have WMP installed for MacOSX.2.6, pretty much any .WMV file I have or d/l from this particular site works jus fine, sure it's a bit jumpy and by no means as stable as Quicktime (wishin all media types were samey)....these particular new files play audio, play as if it's showin but black screen...

~In my half arsed attempts to be clever I tried VLC but alas it doesn't want to convert or play blah blah....

~Guess I just gotta be stuck with the files as is until a fix just pops up....

PS Thanks for the welcome, I think I followed the route from my second home www.cubeowner.com

Duo.

Let me eMail you the movie. You see if you can open it. I downloaded the VLC player and I'm really glad I did. It plays divx movies! and those .avi movies that quicktime won't play but it won't open this email movie I got. The movie is a comic bit about Macs and how undep.... I mean how Dependable they are. You will love if you could see it.
