Title: Synchronization Of 2 Itunes Libraries

alarson2 - July 22, 2003 10:07 PM (GMT)
I have a 120 gig external hard drive and I'm getting another one. I have an iTunes library on an iMac and one on the hard drive. I want to sync or merge the two so that they are both identical and then I want to take the library off the iMac and put it on the other external hard drive. Ya with me?

My goal is to have two identical iTunes libraries on two different external hard drives and only an alias list on the iMac. Right now I have two libraries that are almost the same but not quite. What would be my strategy here?

Do I already have syncronization software? Do I need any? Is there any such thing as sync software.

I don't think iSync will do this, but I will search around the KBase for info.
The sysops

This may help, even though it's for Mac OS 9.

Thanks. That does look like it has possibilities. I know iSync wont do it because that would require putting the library on my iDisk which is only 100 megabytes whereas the iTunes library is 14 Gigabytes!

I wonder if there is sync software in OSX. I don't have OS9 on this computer anymore.

Thanks-- It looks like it's just you and me on this forum dosen't it?

I got cr@p out of VT and mac update, the only thing I can think of is to open the files on the HD so they import into the library, or get a new or older copy of iTunes an tell it to import all audio files it finds on the drive, but this also for some odd reason imports all .mpg and .mpeg video files.

I know there's a way to do this...
