Title: The Super Milk Chan Show
Description: Weirdest Anime Ever

Did anyone catch the premire of this show on Adult Swim?
I did and...well...I think Adult Swim's website pretty much describe MY feelings on it.

What was probably the weirdest thing for me was how the style often change thoughout the show, with most of the action being a cross between modern American animation and Japanese anime (with no shading; shock!), to light shading, then with more realistic anime look with cel-shading and lighting, and even a scene that reminded me of something you would see out of Sailor Moon.
All I know is that this "Milk Chan" character would not be a good role model for kids.
Her favorite curse word phrase is yelling "You dumbass!"
I think she said it over six times in just the first episode!
Anyone else have any thoughts on this bizzare anime?
Vee vee vee vee,
Ava ava ava ava,

Vee vee vee vee,

WEll... I watched it with my sprite character. His brain melted, his eyes bled, and he fell into a canyon, so I hired a new one...
Vee vee vee vee,
Ava ava ava ava,
Vee vee vee vee,
Ava ava ava ava,
Vee vee vee vee,

I didn't watch it, don't plan too.
It just plain doesn't look good to me.

Well, if you like traditional anime, then it's not in your book. It's hardly anime, really. It's more like....the WEIRDEST parts of Japanese culture mixed into an American show.
A few times they actually used live action. o_o;
Kirbopher15 - November 8, 2004 08:45 PM (GMT)
I'm guessing it WAS an American-made show then. No surprise, since every other cartoon on the comedy block is made in da U.S. When I saw the commercial for it I was...well basically what BGB said o_O I didn't stay up to watch it because I had school in the morning and I like to SLEEP. Maybe I'll see it over December Break or somethin. So it's basically just psychotic anime-ish randomness?
Ad-Man - November 8, 2004 09:06 PM (GMT)
That show bored me to sleep. Then again, I was real tired. I barely saw the start. But I feel that is gonna be warped.
Itachi - November 8, 2004 09:09 PM (GMT)
No it's not made in America. *looks at his Newtype DVD with a preview episode and the fact that is has a ADV dubbing* I like wierd anime really. But this is just... Not my cup of tea.

It looks like some kind of Ren & Stimpy hybrid.
AngelHalo - November 9, 2004 12:38 AM (GMT)
Somebody tell me what it is about? I saw a thriller of it.
Cyclone The Hedgechidna - November 9, 2004 12:39 AM (GMT)
I haven't seen it yet(I guess I'll tape it next time it comes on)
But the trailer/commercial music kicked ass(don't ask me why I liked it, it was just cool). I don't have any comment on the show itself though, yet.

Wow, a lot of people didn't see this.
Let me very breifly tell you what happened in the first episode and you can decide for yourself.
Okay, like Ad Man said, it starts out slowly. Mostly to introduce the charaters, which are a slug, a water-powered robot maid, and of course, Milk Chan. Milk Chan also tricks her landlord out of paying her rent, which she is six months behind in. Apprently, this Milk Chan was temporarily pocessed by the Spirit of Greed, then forced it out by shaking her head (no joke). The spirit mutters to itself about pocessing a Japanese company next. Phone rings, The President (Of Everything) calls Milk Chan for an important mission, but while getting distracted by small talk, he...explicitly brags about his sexual prowess (no, I'm not joking). When he finally gets back on topic, he says that a counterfitter is making phoney bills and has to be stop.
This cuts to another scene, only THIS one is drawn more like the anime we're used to, realistic backgrounds. A character (dressed what seems to be Polish or Belgium attire) is operating a machine that is producing phoney bills. This is what he said, more or less...
"One gin...one kin....one gin...one kin...with this money, I'll be able to *insert cheap speed lines* EAT MY FILL OF BELGIUM WAFFLES!!!!!"
.....yes, he said that. He's making phoney bills so he can buy lots and lots of Belgium waffles. Then, I think there's a commerical break, then cut to live action in a downtown Toyko where a female announcer is trying to decide what to do today. Back to the REALLY cartoony part, Milk Chan starts talking like a kid-version of Master Shake (from ATFH) and wants to just give up when The President calls again and tells her that he forgot to mention that they just build a new robot that would help her. So, they go and get a Robodog from a weird Dr. Eyepatch (who only appears on TV monitors) in King Idea Labs. The robot maid was originally excited to go here to see if she could find "her daddy" (the man who build her) but is jealous of Robodog and dehearten that Dr. Eyepatch COULD be her creator (who was very rude to the robot maid).
Anyways, trying to prove she is still useful, the Robot Maid looks something up on theh Internet and finds out the counterfit bills have been distribed mostly at resturants that serve Belgium Waffles, so the gang takes the obvious action; open a Belgium Waffles stand. Their first costume is bizzare. She is not only drawn very well, but they use all those weird rainbow colors and bubble effects you often find in Sailor Moon. After making her order, she spins (yes, SPINS like a top) off, yelling "Tres bien!!!!".
I don't get it either.
Well, the counterfitter is still gloating over his fake bills when he smells the cooking Belgium waffles from Milk Chan's stand. Unfortunately for him, Robodog detects the bills are indeed phoney and immediately proceeds to kick the man's butt. The fake bills, however, gets scattered and caught by various people in the street. Then they switch to censored photographs of Japanese people with voice overs.
Man in a business suit. "With this money, the company doesn't have to close!"
Man..dressed....as a woman..."With this money, I can become a real woman!"
Teen "With this money, I can go to the gaming con!" (Or something like that, I don't quite remember).
The gang decides that alls well that ends well since they technically DID catch the bad guy (who, by the way, is tied up in ropes and wimpers "I promise I'll never do it again!" as he gets wizzed, yes, WIZZED by Robodog).
And THAT...is the premire of Milk Chan. I don't get it either and I really don't know if I'll stick around for another episode...if I do, it's either because of morbid curosity or because I'm in a mood to be freaked out.
Oh, and Milk Chan says "You dumbass!" about six times, mostly to her robot maid.

I saw it today (thanks to recording it), and I have to say sorry for calling FLCL the weirdest show I've ever seen. I mean, DANG, that show made Furi Kuri as easy to follow as an episode of Pokemon. But I have to admit, I laughed at the idea of a guy making alot of counterfit money for BELGIUM WAFFLES! LOL!Out of all the things you could of spent and he spends it on that. LOL!
