Anyone else like the Addams family? And if you do, what version and who's your favorite Addams?

So far, there are five versions, that being....


-The original Addams from a New Yorker comic strip that ran for about 40 years. I saw a collection of it in a Barnes and Nobles once and it is most excellent.

-Old TV show. There was once a black and white tv show of it, but I don't remember much of it. I would like to see more of it, though...

-Movie. This is where most people know about the Addams. There were two movies of course, The Addams Family and Addams Family Values, both riots in my book. This just might be my favorite of the series...

-Cartoon. I don't like it. They changed a lot just to make it less grim. Wednesday is WAY too nice in that show. And Fester is too comical too.

-New TV show. I think it was on ABC family. It's the one where Uncle Lurch can talk in plain English and Fester was blue-skinned. It's okay but not as good as the movie. Fester was a bit comical in this one too but not nearly as bad as in the cartoon.


Also, there were four video games (five if you count the SNES and NES version of Addmas Family as two different games. They're all good, expect for the cartoon one.)

My favorite characters were Thing, Lurch, and Fester. Probably because they're the weirdest characters (and that's saying alot considering the family)

So, anyone else like the Addams? What version/character do you like the most?

I liked one of them. I think it was the "New Addam's family" I'm not sure. Whichever one it was it had a catchy theme song. :D;;;

Reading over the versions, It seems I liked the ABC family one.

That is correct. It WAS called the "New Addams Family".

Technically, they ALL had the catchy song, finger snapping and everything.

I recall the movies, but that's all that I saw. The cartoon was god awful doncha know...

What the bloody hell was with the "Wednesday has to dance if she hears music" thing?

The cartoon Wednesday was too cheerful. I prefer the dark and morbid Wednesday. Now THAT is comic gold! :lol:

Lurch. All the way.
Best episode ever was when Lurch got that record deal and made a song "Youuu raaannnggg~ You raaaangggg~" God that one was a riot. XD

I never saw that one...if they sell it on a DVD, I'll buy the collection.

I remember this one time they found a whole lot of precious furiture and stuff in Lurch's room. When they asked how he got everything, he just answered "Vegas" and proceeded to shuffle and fix a card game with two hands in lighting fast speed. XD

The programs and movies were ok, I can see why the cartoon would suck a bit.

Geez who didn't love em? When the black and white original show ended, people scarmbled to the set and took everything that wasn't nailed down.

Though I could never decide on the Munsters or the Addams...

I'm the kind that likes both. :) Do they by any chance sell the old TV show on a DVD collection? I'll buy that....

Yeah, I'm an old fan, I perfer the old series to the new versions as they were a bit uncontrolled, though boring shows.

i also love the movies and liked the games.
the cartoon sucked major ass.

I personally didn't like either the New Addams family or the cartoon they were both pretty dull in my opinion, but I did love the movies unfortunately I never saw the old show or the comics so I don't really have a standpoint on them.

The Addams is one of those things from the eighties that is just CLASSIC, like Ghostbusters or Transformers. Actually a swedish movie channel broadcasted both yesterday, I watched them both. And weren't there a third movie or something when they went to a family gathering? Anyway, the animated series sucked compared to the movies, I've never read the comic and not seen the new version of the animation either.
